The season officially begins tomorrow...

Louden Swain: You never took a night off to see me wrestle before. They'll dock you for that.
Elmo: Hey, kid - money ain't everything.
Louden Swain: It's not that big a deal, Elmo. I mean, it's six lousy minutes on the mat, if that.
[pause] (Elmo snaps his head up and looks into Louden’s eyes)
Elmo: You ever hear of Pele?
Louden Swain: Yeah, he's a, a soccer player.
Elmo: A very famous soccer player.
[pause]
Elmo: I was in the room here one day... watchin' the Mexican channel on TV. I don't know nothin' about Pele. I'm watchin' what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in - upside down and backwards... that goalie never knew what the fuck hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody's screaming in Spanish. I'm here, sitting alone in my room, and I start crying.
[pause]
Elmo: That's right, I start crying. Because another human being, a species that I happen to belong to, could kick a ball, and lift himself, and the rest of us sad-assed human beings, up to a better place to be, if only for a minute... let me tell ya, kid - it was pretty friggin’ glorious. It ain't the six minutes... it's what happens in that six minutes.

...seriously contemplating going to West Point in February to see the Midshipmen kick Army's rear again. The dual is on a Sunday this year! Weather will decide.

What's the date on that? A few OH guys on both rosters, I do believe. Could give me an added bonus!

Also, next Friday, I'm looking to head over to the USO in the Columbus Airport... maybe hang out for a couple hours. Let the brave men and women coming home that day (if any) we appreciate them. Heck, I might even thank someone in the Navy! ...now THAT is thanksgiving!!! ;)

EDIT: 2/24/13. Not a chance I can make that. Aside from the fact that it's the day after the district tournament is scheduled, the Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/12. Sorry.

February 24th. The fact that it's the day after District is what makes it appealing for me....that and it's on a Sunday so I can ask our God for forgiveness in advance for stepping foot on that God forsaken ground on the Hudson. ;)

Your trip to the Airport sounds pretty cool. I might steal that idea sometime and my son and I will duplicate it. Just awesome.

Pretty cool that Heskett is at Army. What's this his 3rd year now??

Navy Classic Tourny this weekend! Might try and sneak in there seeing how we will already be in Annapolis for Senior Day at the football game.

I have to head over to Home Depot today. I need the guts for a toilet and a faucet. Our bedroom toilet is shot - and has been shot for about 5 months. Just NOT trying to touch the inner parts of a toilet. Bleck!

And we need a faucet because ours is roughly ten years old and the seals have broken. How do I know??? Water... EVERYWHERE!!! Awful! Anywho, gotta throw down about a buck-fiddy for that, and add on the toilet guts, which are - I'm guessing - 35 bones??? I guess it's whatever dude.

I'm beginning to wonder if installing a water softener will help the pipes, seals, and inner workings of my plumbing. Maybe. Maybe not.

Germaphobes have taken over the NFHS!

ps: My 27" tube television died. 60" VIZIO - of the LED sort - most likely a SMART TV, is what I'm leaning towards. We'll see. Hopefully 12/21/12 wipes us all out and I won't be forced to make the purchase! :D

Was that PSU @ Nebraska??? Dear God that was awful. While taping at Medina I thought about going that route, but I found myself searching for completely goofy things to say... that had NO bearing on the task at hand. "Fist to the back"!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?! You can't make that stuff up.
