What to look for in the fourth round?

The Steelers pick at No. 128.

Ideally, this would've been a good round to look for a nose tackle but both Kenrick Ellis and Sione Fua went at the end of the third round.

This could be time for an offensive weapon now that they've addressed their primary needs.

Kugler said the Steelers are filling a need by drafting Gilbert.

Two offensive linemen — Starks and Willie Colon — are coming off surgery, while Flozell Adams is 36 and two other tackles are free agents.

"There's uncertainty (on the offensive line)," Kugler said. "We just thought we got a good football player who adds to the room. We have a guy who plays with energy and passion.''

Gilbert started 27 games at tackle and three at guard for the Gators the past two seasons.

He figures to return.

They may lose Jonathan Scott, who filled in last year. He struggled a lot. Only average at best.

Willie Colon is also an unrestricted free agent. Flozell has already said he's interested in returning.

LT Starks or Gilbert
LG Kemoeatu
C Pouncey
RG Foster or Legursky or Gilbert
RT Colon or Adams or Gilbert

Gilbert being a good athlete and versatile gives him a chance at a few spots along the line.

my grades so far

1st round - Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State A-
...I didn't realize how impressive he was as a person. Well spoken, mature guy. I really think it's a great fit and he could be a Steelers defensive leader for a long time.

2nd round - Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida B+
...Talented, athletic prospect who could help out at either guard or tackle. Also has the ability to play left tackle down the road which is big.

3rd round - Curtis Brown, CB, Texas B
...Brown is considered a good cover corner with better quickness than speed. Carnell Lake, the new secondary coach, emphasized that he'll likely be a good fit as a nickel corner next season. He has good agility and leaping ability but does have to get stronger and better against the run. The reason for the slightly low grade is because there's some uncertainty whether he can be a long term starter and top corner, but he should help the team immediately as an extra corner.

Ed Bouchette says RB or WR in the fourth round.

I agree. After filling the needs in the first three rounds, they'll look for some offensive skill.

I really like the versatility that Gilbert brings to the table. G or T...right or left side. We need that.

Tandon Doss, Indiana
Greg Salas, Hawaii
Terrence Toliver, LSU

they could also go pass-catching TE, a hybrid type

Charles Clay for example from Tulsa

Weslye Saunders could also be a sleeper. Huge frame, good hands. He has some red flags but is an intriguing tight end prospect.

Better hope Chris Carter from Fresno State goes soon or the Steelers might take him.

He's their type at outside linebacker.

I remember one game he only had one arm and the other was wrapped in a cast and he was still all over the place. Good pass rusher and attacking player.

Greg Lloyd's son actually could get drafted, from Connecticut.

Different type of player. Not an animal like his dad but a solid, steady middle linebacker.

I don't have a problem with them going CB there either. Especially with some of the offensive skill guys that had just gone off the board.

Back-to-back corners. Brown seems more like a third/nickel corner. Allen is more like an Ike Taylor. Raw, but good size and upside. They brought him in for a visit and were impressed. He was one of their sleepers.

Allen is a great pick. He is from Ocala, Fl. I saw him play against the Gators a couple years ago, he impressed me.

I'm starting to lose track of who is left

a bit of a grab bag now

if Ian Williams or Jerrell Powe are left, I'd consider them in the fifth round

none of the receivers are very intriguing other than maybe Toliver

I don't like North Carolina players that much. They seem like a lot of knuckleheads.

But Quan Sturdivant is a good linebacker still on the board.

explosive, muscular pass rusher...classic Steeler mold

Defensive heavy.

But considering their draft position -- drafting late in every round -- and not having the extra picks to trade and move around, they've gone pick by pick and gotten pretty good value and addressed needs.

Bruce Arians is probably saying what about getting a player for offense.

Bruce Arians needs to focus on running the rock more this year with Mendenhall. I like our draft picks so far. The Steelers usually do draft well, despite what Mel and Todd say.....

Mario Fannin I think would make sense in the 6th round

good athlete from Auburn, runs a 4.37 at 230-235 lbs, good hands

he would be a third down back, possibly replacing Mewelde Moore
