Thoughts and prayers are with his family, several of whom I know and are very nice people. A very dedicated man, even though way up in years, we'd see him at the games. RIP.

Coach Abe was NOT afraid to remain in the former All American League. Those years were killer schedules and due to the non playoff voting system, it forced schools to play suicidal annual schedules. Look at the schools Abe played AND THE SCHOOLS OVER THE PAST 30 YEARS. Not even a serious debate.

Many of us miss those days and they are never to return. Times and programs change and we only see a few quality matchups per year anymore. This is why people around America know of Cleveland St. Edward as Rivals.com claim had the nations toughest schedule. There are still some schools with enough talent to play the cruel gauntlet we saw from mnay schools your fathers and grandfathers played.

Miama, Florida is the #1 city to produce the most NFL players over the past twenty years. I recall USA Today had an article on Evans High ( Miami,FL ) who starting linemen were caompared in height & weight to the Miami Hurricanes.

We may NEVER see another Calvin Jones emerge from the OVAC in our lifetime. Yeah, we old men know who he was. LOL)

Coach Bryan wasnt affraid to leave the AAC because he helped form it lol ... He also was the catalyst of the playoff system . Didnt know until reading the paper today of what a war hero he was .. He inlisted in the Marines at 17 after forging his parents signature's He was wounded in battle twice .. In Saipan and later in Iow Jima and recieved a bronze star and two purple hearts ..That impressed me more than anything .. TY coach Bryan

The greatest football confrence in the history of the United States the old AAC I love Massillon and Canton and Niles ,Warren and Alliance ..What a great time it must have been to play in those days ... We won a title in 84 but never got a chance to play against the team that I wanted "Massillon" Those guys really played in a golden era of HS football ..What a time it must have been...

84 was a weird year for Massillon, if you had played us in weeks 1-4, you probably would have handled us pretty handily, after week 4 we seemed to put it all together, honestly, I think we would have won. Anyway, sorry to hear about the Steubenville legend.

Oh boy who knows we had a helluva team and our D had 8 shut outs that season If I had any say we would have not lost to you guys .. "no disrespect ofcourse" I love you guys but only cause I respect that you have the greatest football factory in the history of all high school football .. and we aint too shabby but you guys sure have handled us .. It was my dream to play Massillon but Ill take my ring .. and that year we were the best of all divisions that won IMO
