Hope they can get it up and running for you soon.
It's one thing to lose power in warm weather, but in cold/freezing it is TERRIBLE. You can live without AC, can't live without heat.

Yeah, I can look out my back deck and see RT39 has power (AEP). We're on Co-op, and the reports are a line came down on SR60

Lost power for a couple hours early this morning and surely enough it's been out tonight since around 6. Have a fire going, but word is we won't get power back until tomorrow afternoon. Guess it could be worse and be like 5 degrees.

Hope ya'll get your electric back pretty quick. Looks like we dodged a bullet here in Belmont Co. Under a wind advisory right now, though.

Speaking of generators...
Does anybody here on the OC have a whole-house propane generator? We've been thinking of getting one of those here. Not only for the convenience, but the quiteness.
The trouble is we don't have propane heat, meaning that we'd have to get a tank, line, etc.
But looking at the costs, trying to figure out if it would actually be worth it.

Ours went out at 10:30 last night and came back on about 4:00. But with this wind we'll be lucky if it stays on. (Or lucky if it goes back out and I can go home.)

Thought for sure we'd lose power last night. But it stayed on. Car thermometer said 39 on my way into work...hopefully that's warm enough to melt what's on the lines.
Of course, it's dropping to single digits tonight so it will all just freeze back up again. Could be the weekend before any real melting takes place.

We have power (In Canton where I live).... but I have a shit load of branches, limbs and looks like half of one tree down. My large pine trees are stripped of branches..
Looks like Belly will have little clean-up to do today....

Heard over half of Stark Co is without power this morning. You were lucky. These 40 mph winds might still wreak havoc though.

You can get standby generators that your natural gas line will hook up to.

ConAlma, would you consider that a worthwhile investment, considering that for I would have use of it only a few times a year?
...
Ted Sheckler, I have total electric with central air.
So that means I would have to get a tank/lines, electrical hookups, etc. I'm estimating the initial price to be about $2,500, looking at a Lowe's website. I haven't really shopped around yet, since I'm still just exploring the possibility. And even though I would using it often, it may indeed to worth the price.

Over time it would be a great investment. You figure if you lose power in the summer, you'll be saving all the food in the fridge. Also, for resale, you will get your money back out of it.
