Just tried my first DuClaw beer the other day. Bought a sixer of their Devil's Milk barleywine. It's not the best barleywine I've ever had, but it was damn good.

While other breweries are selling out, MadTree in Cincinnati is expanding. ---> http://www.thegnarlygnome.com/2016/01/infiltrating-the-new-madtree/

(got to plug The Gnarly Gnome as he's a friend of mine)

I was not aware that Founders and Lagunitas sold partial (I think 50% each?) to macros.

Yes. Founders sold 30% of theirs in Dec of 2014 to Mahou San Miguel, a family-owned company that operates seven brewing operations in Spain and one in India.

Lagunitas sold 50% to Heineken last September.

Damn that sounds epic!

Tried a cantaloupe saison from DuClaw this evening. Was alright, more interested in seeing how they did the fruit, it was subtle.

According to the Brewers Association, America now has the most operating breweries than at any time in history! As of 12/1/15 there are 4,144 breweries, exceeding the previous high of 4,131 in 1873.

Interesting story:

Had lunch this weekend, very very good, I now need to find dinner. As far as IPAs, I'd go with this ranking:

Russian River Pliny the Elder
Dogfish head 180 minute
Maine Lunch
Dogfish head 90 minute
Lagunitas Sucks

Heady topper
Green flash green bullet
3 Floyds Dreadaught
Stone Ruination

Bells hopslam

Went to Denver this weekend, had some really tasty brews.

Had a couple Hefeweizens that were good, some Blondes that were alright, and some apricot Ales that were real good. Denver is fun.

So I happened to be at the Clifton American Legion in Fairwiew Park last Friday and tried Red Hook Pumpkin Ale on tap, 8%.

It was very good, especially at the price of $1.50/pint!

God Bless the USA!

Appreciate the sweeping generalization. Not all of us think you're a terrible person for drinking Bud Light.

However, if we need a reminder of AB InBev's hypocrisy on the subject, this happened for last year's Super Bowl:

Also, worth noting, the ad pokes at "imported" beers. InBev itself isn't domestic.

It's dumb. Get off the high horse and drink whatever beverage one wants to drink.
