Saw some film on Wynford, Smithville will be more than a match up front!! Wynford is a spread type offense, QB is pretty good! I think Wallace is better. I would think a keep away type game plan will be in order!! Wynford has not seen a running game this strong. I think it will be a close game. Schrock and the staff will have the Smithies ready!

I thought the articles in the paper today really did a good job capturing what it takes to be successful in H.S. athletics. The Norwayne volleyball team, let by seniors who set goals and became determined to reach them, even without a prior blueprint or model for how they should be accomplished. Alex Bates, along with the rest of his teammates who overcame adversity and met their own high expectations through perseverance, putting themselves in a position to be successful this season. Central and Dalton's Vball teams are led by coaches that share a hard work ethic and winning foundation which is common in our area when you look at all of the coaching trees. What isn't common is the group of athletes that these two squads have, willing to work hard all year long, 12 months for a few months of success. The flexibility that some of these athletes have, being able to change positions at the coaches' order, without lowering performance and expectations is very impressive. Props to the D.R. staff, and all of the players and coaches involved. I look forward to the Norwayne and Orrville stories in the coming days. The coverage of Friday Night Football is really second to none if you look at other papers in the state on Saturday mornings. Also the weekly preview videos that have been added this year and the WQKT preview show, mixed with Dorksen on Twitter, the RedRiderSportsBlog, and OhioChatter really give us football fans all we can ask for. What an awesome area for H.S. football.

A little general info on Wynford and their league-

The Bucyrus Wynford Royals are located Crawford County and compete in the North Central Conference. They have won 7 consecutive NCC titles in football.

The NCC is a 10 team league stretching over 4 counties (Richland, Crawford, Wyandot & Hancock)

The other league members are Galion(D4), Ontario(D4), Bucyrus(D5), Colonel Crawford(D6), Crestline(D6), Upper Sandusky(D4), Lucas(D6), Riverdale(D5) & Buckeye Central(D6)

Wynford beat a couple pretty good D4 teams in Galion(8-2 10th in D4 R14) 22-20 and Ontario(8-2 9th in D4 R14) 33-7.

They also defeated D6 playoff qualifier Buckeye Central(8-2 2nd D6 R23) 38-6

The combined record of their opponents is 50-50

as usual I got most of this info from wikipedia....so it could have errors

and finally for BRF-
Crawford County was named after a guy named Crawford.........The More You Know:D

Yeah, yeah, yeah, try to bust my stones for "fineprinting", but I am not. You guys need to learn how to read, and not assume what you want. But it's cool, I still might be providing tickets, to the regional finals as promised.

Quit bothering AD...he has to work on a story for Orrville so they quit hating on him. They dont appreciate him like the WCAL does!

oldsmithie;951788 wrote:It is a sad but true fact, that a lot of coaches use the small schools as a stepping stone to bigger things! Smithville is lucky to have Schrock for all these years! If your an old fart like me, you can remember that Schrock had a very rough start at Smithville! only won 2 games in his first 2 years! It took 4 years to get the program turned around. Seems like the problem at Chippewa and Rittman, is the fact that coaches dont stay there very long! In this day and age, people want a quick fix, in all honesty it takes a little time to turn a program into winners.
Is it that they don't want to stay, or that the parents, fans and administration can't hack a few losing seasons to wait for the turn around.
