From talking to people, I wholly expect the smithies to be back in the game this year after a hiatus for a few seasons. The doubts really stem from the injury history of some of these guys. When you are outside of a program, you may not know what guys are capable of untill you see it on the field every week. The fact people are reserving judgement on smithville is strictly the lack of results (mostly due to injury) vs the potential that the group obviously has. I will also be curious to see what Coach Williams does in Hillsdale the next few years, that will really tell the tale. They have had the best group of football athletes in their history the last few years and credit to williams for taking advantage of it. If he keeps them competitive going forward, he will cement his place.(for the record I think he is a very solid coach). As far as Dalton goes, the bulldogs will have their youngest, most inexperienced teams in many a year. On the bright side, the kids expect to win and that goes a long way. The only guys that got a lot of starts last year that return are chase moyer (qb and lb this year), steve miller (OL/DL,) nick keyes (fb/lb). DOty has a tough season to start out in, but I do think they will compete.

I don't post on here much anymore, not because I don't respect the opinions of others, but because of all of the false information that is often posted. I already know all there is to know about Bates, Hilty, Steiner, and Buss. Obviously there are some other people who they need to prove themselves to. It should be a great fall in the WCAL. Also, Kelbly is back and is on the radar of numerous division one colleges. Michigan, West Virginia, Pitt, and Toledo were all at the school this month. Scary thing is last year he wasn't even the best lineman Smithville had. That goes to Zach Douglass and he is also back and also being recruited by Toledo. Everyone knows about Hillsdale and Norwayne, and everyone should respect them by now, but looking at Smithville going 2-8 last year and expecting that to have anything to do with their record this year would be the wrong decision to make in my opinion.
