I am friends with several people who are basically walking, talking likenesses of what I've seen of it (to be fair, none of that has been from the actual show). They're all from Rochester, NY. Nice guys, but the whole crazy partying, tanning, and lots of money thing ... the same.

Only two people on the show are even from Jersey. The rest of the cast is from NY. And only two or three are even Italian. LOL

I thought they all at least had some kind of Italian ancestors.

A bit more than just a flash in the pan....Most of the cast has hit it BIG in a major way, from a $$$ perspective. But Snooki is dumber than dirty. Expect a true Hollywood story in about five years where she will probably be a crack whore.

The amazing thing to me is maybe they are more "frugal" than given credit for - JWow was still living in the same shitty little house. Snooki's dad, apparently, still pays her credit card bill, but that could be just because she'd so stupid he's managing her finances.

Funny thing, though, is they all splurged on cars (what else is new for young people with money - go blow your last dollar on a car you can't afford, although they can). Several of them are driving Beamers (not sure, the low-end model retails in the 30's, though). Situation is driving a Range Rover. I think Pauly has an Escalade. Granted, they are making like $30k per episode this year, but I'm sure they all got those cars after Season1 when they were making like $5k an episode and no idea what would happen with the show.

It is still relatively young...and peaking, I know. But when it starts running out of gas, who is going to sustain a career? Mike is the one who is going to continue to make money and who has marketed himself the best. Pauly has some personality. Vinny and Ronnie have nothing to offer on their own. Snooki will probably get her own trainwreck spinoff. The rest of the girls - nothing doing. The minute that Mike balks at a group deal (or when he gets enough going on his own to not have time), the rest are pretty much done. So keeping it fresh for the cast is just as important as mixing it up for the viewers.

I don't disagree with any of that, just saying they've all made A LOT of money on this. Not obscene money, but enough that investing smartly and living within their means they don't need to do much else. Of course, someone like Snooki probably isn't smart enough for that. But for the most part it doesn't look like any of them have gone hog wild with throwing money away, but they probably have. Too shocking to believe otherwise.

$5k per episode the 1st season * 9 = $45k
$10k per episode the 2nd season * 14 = $140k
$30k for Snooki, JWow, Situation and Pauly this season, a little less ($20-$25k?) for the others. = call it $250k+
And then you have a fourth season already in the works.

Not chump change by any means. Consider Snooki otherwise has a career selling t-shirts making minimum wage and she's already made multiples of her otherwise career earning potential.

they're really making bank, and there's a ton of club/bar promoters out there that will keep paying them to show up to drive traffice
