I'm in the market for a pair of boots and I've never really owned a nice pair so I have no clue what brands I should be looking at. My only requirements are that they are waterproof and warm. Whadya got?

As an employee of Rocky, I am going to recommend you purchase a pair of Rockys
I have a pair like this:
and they are great. Feel light on the foot and have a very comfortable footbed/insole. This is coming from somebody who rarely wears/purchases boots. They are pretty popular here in the office too. Several people own them.
They are called "Mountain Stalkers"

Red Wing is great at making work boots, but they aren't so great at Outdoor/Hunting boots. The tread pattern you need for outdoor type stuff is totally different.

Better yet, here's a link to all 35 versions of their "waterproof and insulated" boots.
You can check more criteria on the left (in case you're a retard).

I own a pair of work boots and a pair of "Hiker" boots (http://www.redwingshoes.com/red-wing-shoe/8685-red-wing-shoes/8685-red-wing-mens-hiker-brown). I would never complain about them, they're amazing. Quit trying to pass along your shitty product and give the man some honest advice!
Plus, he never said he was hunting in them.

I recommend rockies from years of proof. Ive owned two pair of rocky boots and both have lasted over ten years each. Wouldnt trade them for any other kind of boot. Although I havent bought any in a long time. I wear them daily during the winter to work in and to go anywhere in. Only thing I wish they would do is make them a little lighter but other then that I love them. Ive owned red wings and they are a good work boot but just dont seem to hold the water proofing as long as the rockies do.

For that specific style it looks like $179.99 is the price you can expect to pay. Our website has that price, and so does Cabela'sSonofanump;655224 wrote:How much?

I never said he was hunting in them either. Just said that the types of outsoles that Red Wing offers are best for working in construction or a factory. Not good for hiking, hunting, or anything else you might do outdoors.Red Wing is great at making work boots, but they aren't so great at Outdoor/Hunting boots. That hiker you linked probably has a good outsole for hiking, but it looks like it is made for a senior citizen. Ugly shoe

Worked at Rocky for a few years....
You've got to determine when and why you'll be wearing them. Too many grams of insulation and your feet will sweat and peel. Anything with a "Vibram" sole will last a long time, and is fairly comfortable too. I always put gel inserts in my boots just in case. I personally love the "Bucklights." Very comfortable, and VERY light.

I also have a pair of Columbia boots that I really like. They werent as exepensive as some of the other boots that I looked at but they work just as well

I agree with Jordo that the hiker you listed is ugly. If I were getting these for working I'd probably go for the redwings but I'll be wearing them for trekking around in the snow and crap (figuratively and literally). I'll probably end up using them for hunting as well.

justin, those are the same boots my husband has bought since I've known him. His have lots of wear and tear and they seem to stay waterproof for about a year.

I have been wearing a pair of rocky boots for about 3 years now and I love them. Once I got them broken in they are super comfortable and keep my feet dry in the winter.
