Depends on what you're looking to do. General Internet, email, and word processing? That will do fine.

What are your needs? This would not be good for gaming at all.

No gaming really, just basic stuff for school. I really only need it for programs like Microsoft Word and other school projects.

We got my mom one for Christmas and she loves it (okay I use it, too and also like it). It's perfect for her...she uses email, browses the internet, Skypes with my brother in AZ and stores some pics. I think the specs are more important than the actual brand...you just need to make sure what you will use it for can be accomplished on that machine.

In that case, you're fine, JT. It'll do the trick.

I would really love to get one with the i7 processor, but don't want to pay $1200 or so for it. It seems like a good pc for everything but gaming.

Never dealt with Acer before, but these specs are much better.

Okay I just looked at the link and I am pretty sure that's the exact computer we got her, lol. My stepbrother found it at Microcenter for $299.

This is mostly true although some brands use better motherboards and other components than others.

The specs are much better than the Toshiba. I have just always been a big fan of Toshiba, since we bought a VCR from them when they first came out. It was expensive then but it never quit working until we threw it away. I also have a Toshiba Regza LCD T.V. that I like. Do you know if there is an Office Max in Newark or just in Columbus, I assume. Scratch that question there is one in Lancaster and Reynoldsburg.

Now that looks like a deal, I wish I could spend that much. I would hate to pass on a deal that good

Looks good. Battery life is listed at over 8 hours for that Toshiba.

My current Toshiba is running pretty well at 3 years old now even though I'm not the nicest to it.

Toshiba has a better track record than Acer.
