I would like to thank the Jets for getting the monkey off of the Browns' backs. We are no longer the last team to lose back to back AFC Championship's.
Here's to hoping we can forget about The Drive and The Fumble... Although unlikely.
This is post in pure fun, and is not to be taken seriously.

It's better than not making the playoffs, that's for sure.

Justin...
You still have to work to take the back-to-back-to-back tie with Cleveland. Considering they did lose 3 times in a row to Denver in the AFC championship. The third was a blowout which I remember vividly because in the previous round, Pittsburgh lost a close game to the Broncs because apparently Merril Hoge couldn't single-handledly win two straight games.

We only lost to the Broncos twice in the AFC Champ game. We lost in '85 to the 'Fins in the Divisional round. We lost in '88 in the Wild Card round to the Oilers.
We haven't been to an AFC Champ game since.

Browns lost to Broncos 3 times in AFC title games, but only 2 were in a row. They lost to Denver following the seasons of 1986,1987, and 1989

89 as well as already answered by bundy. probably didn't remember it because that 89 team was such a clusterfuck team

Ah, it was three out of four? Guess they all kinda blended together because it was Denver all three times.

1989 was a strange season. There was so much parity in the AFC (or just bad teams). The Browns had the #2 seed with a record of 9-6-1. Two NFC teams with records better than that didn't even make the playoffs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_NFL_season

Yeah. Pittsburgh got a wild card at 9-7, beat the 9-7 Oilers in the wild card game and then lost to Denver in the second round because Hoge couldn't single-handedly win two straight games (and with Brister at QB, you need the running back to single-handedly win games).
It was bizarre. A division won by a 9-6-1 team still had three of the five AFC playoff teams.

I remember that game. I can remember games from 20 years ago better than I can remember games from last week. That was the only playoff game I have ever rooted for the Steelers in. A Steelers win would have put the AFC title game in Cleveland.
