I may already be annoyed by Steven Tyler.

Tyler was much better after the first couple auditions they showed. I actually really like this group of judges, and don't miss Simon at all.

I'm thinking this may be better and a refreshing change.
...not missing Simon at all.

I really believe these 3 judges will be better for the show.

I think Simon had a true eye for talent which is missing this season. Lopez and Tyler are entertaining in a different way. It hasn't been the train wreck (thus far) I had anticipated.

Simon had two things that will probably be missing - an eye for the interesting/annoying to give the show some flavor and that eye for talent (unless Randy has more input off camera, and maybe producers guide them). Simon I think was pretty key in getting a good cross-section of talent, but that's also been kind of a weakness of the show because a lot of talent gets passed over to put on people fans will hate or laugh at and tune in (i.e. Sanjaya).

On another note, is Steven Tyler the missing link? I mean, what IS he? You know how they have free care at dentist schools? It's like Tyler did the same thing at a plastic surgery school and it went horribly wrong.

To make the show work you need a "hard ass," a "sweat heart" and someone "level headed."

It's jumped the shark. I was ready to turn it off after the last hour last night. Painful at times.

Yep. They won't really put the bad contestants in their place. That's what Simon brought to the show and the only reason a lot of people enjoyed the auditions. Watching some be horrible and only getting "yeah, thank you, but this isn't for you" is boring and unsatisfying.

Appears to mostly be the same formula. Some hacks have already been put through. They'll end-up with 2 dozen so-so candidates, a quarter of which might have real talent and another 6 which will be there to drive ratings, with the remaining 12 either being eye candy or having a "compelling" story. The show has simply gotten stale, and looks like J-Lo and Steven Tyler aren't bringing much more than an opinion.

I turned it off after the last hour to! Didn't figure there was a reason to keep trying to watch a show that was over.

I think the show will survive fine. Ive been pleasantly surprised with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. The stories and triumphs of the contestants are the better story than just Simon.

Really? You enjoy watching a 62 yr old man hit on teenage girls?

Tyler always seems to get an inappropriate comment in at the beginning of the show which gets censored. I like it.

I gave it another chance last night, and I tend to agree with you...the "one, two, three--YES" response by the judges (more than once) really put me off. I'll prolly watch it again, but not until Hollywood.
