I'm originally from the Lima Area, and some people from my home town (St. Marys) are saying that there is a rumor going around town that Todd Schulte is leaving DSJ to become the new head coach at St. Marys after Coach Hollars stepped down after his 2nd year, going 1-9.

Anyone still around the area have any information on this? I know it's a rumor, but I'm just curious as to how true it is.

Not going to happen. Last time he interviewed at Van Wert to leverage a better deal for him at St. Johns. Delphos will come up with a way to get him more money or some booster will promote his wife. He has played this game before.

I have no idea if she even works. I do know of a former coach there who had some interesting stories of how things worked.

Wanna make a bet?

He will be the next coach at St. Marys.

The rumor I heard supposedly came from a good source from Delphos that Schute is coming to St Marys

Another rumor. He would be getting a $24,000 increase per year. You can look up salaries of coaches in St. Marys and other public schools (Teacher Salary on Serious Business) and a lot of head football coaches in the area makes about 60-65,000/year. That would put him around $40,000/year at DSJ. This is very possible, and it would be hard for me to turn that down.

I think the whole issue boils down to retirment benefits and such does it not? I could be wrong. Current salary increase is nice as well, if that is correct information, but the retirement issues are a big plus from what I know...which is not much.

As for him becoming the next HC at SM....if he wants it...it is his. Believe he is interviewing today.

I retract my previous statement.

He was to be interviewed today in SM, but he withdrew his name from consideration.

You would think that some day people will learn...do not let names slip out who they will be interviewing. ONce that happens many times a coach gets the case of the goo and backs out.

Keep your lips sealed people....ya just may land yourself one heck of a coach!

Hope he does stay at DSJ...even tho they are a rival to our school it is very good for our league to keep the top coaches around.
