For my fam it's Family Tradition by Hank Williams Jr. Probably not appropriate and I am pretty sure my sister in laws family thought we were all crazy while they watched us gather in a circle and sing while they sat at their tables...but oh well.

At my wedding...this song brought EVERYONE onto the dance floor. And I don't think anyone left once they got there except to go grab another drink.

For some reason my family has a tradition of playing "Old Time Rock 'n Roll" after the dollar dance to where every woman in the family young and old form a circle and go crazy.

I got married in Michigan, so 1/2 the reception was Michiganders. Although most of my family consists of Michigan fans, we played "Hang on Sloop" and did the O-H-I-O (it's an OHIO thing, not just an OSU thing). 1/2 of the room just sat there looking confused.

I really like the "Old Time Rock and Roll" tradition you speak of bigkahuna. Sounds like the ladies really get into it. I particularly like the idea that every female gets out there. What a great family bonding dance. I, of course, come from a little older music era and I like the slow dance every now and then. Something that let's you catch your breath, be close to your lady, and be able to talk to one another in a way that is impossible with much of today's music. I don't really have an actual tune in mind but something along the lines of the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" might be nice for a change of pace. Just a thought...

here is a list I gave to the DJ to play, in this sequence, at a relative's wedding--the dance floor was packed the entire time...these songs are timeless, and are great to dance to:

Nobody - The Human Beinz
Mony, Mony - Tommy James/Shondells
Time Won't Let Me - Outsiders
Double Shot - The Swingin' Medallions
Do-Wah-Diddee - Manfred Mann
Do You Love Me - The Contours
Hang on Sloopy - The McCoys
Shout - The Isley Brothers
You Baby - The Turtles
Feel Like a Woman - Shania Twain
Love Shack - B-52's
What I Like About You - The Romantics
Wild, Wild Life - Talking Heads
You Shook Me - AC/DC
Old Time Rock n' Roll - Bob Seger
Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
Born To Be Wild - Steppenwolf
Satisfaction - Rolling Stones

Yeah, I gotta agree. As much as I think this song is "over rated," there is no denying that IT IS THE greatest wedding song of all-time. Bar none.
