Didn't think I'd see the day with 2 Mountain West teams as #2 seeds but at this point they are both playing as well as any team in the country. Surprised he has Colorado out at this point, I would think they'd definitely be in.

He usually does an excellent job as the tourney nears. He's no Mel Kiper.

No way 11 Big East teams make it. Come on Joe.

Sick of the Big East watering it down. There needs to be a cap.

I think in the end, the Big East will get eight or nine teams in. The conference, as we all know is quite stacked, but usually you'll see half or 2/3 of the Big East field out in the first round or two.

Looks like the Big Ten will be capped out at 6 unless Penn State continues to play like they have the past couple of weeks. Teams like Penn State, Northwestern, and even Michigan are pretty good teams, but the top 6 are too strong for there to be enough wins available to those teams.

I agree.

I really want Northwestern to make it though. It's probably going to have to come down to them winning a couple in the B10 Tourny.

The 11th place Big East team doesn't deserve a spot. No team past 8 deserves a spot. It is almost a certainty that they would have a losing record in conference play right?

Yeah, I would agree with this. Last year, the 11th place team was 7-11.

But then again if they have a better resume than another team, they deserve the spot.

As I said, I think it the end, the fact that the 11 teams have to play each other almost every night, will lower the amount of teams to probably eight. The team that is currently 11th in the Big East has an overall record of 14-5, with wins at Memphis and Missouri.

It's just going to come down to how they finish in order. If Cincinnati, St Johns, and Marquette are 9,10,11 they won't get in because they don't have the non-conference wins even if they have a few top 20 wins against the Big East.

If Georgetown, Notre Dame, and West Virginia are 9,10,11 they would almost certainly get in due to their nonconference wins along with some good Big East wins.

It's early in conference play so a lot of those Big East teams are still living off their non-conference records. You would think some separation would be created at some point. The thing about the Big East is that the teams at the bottom are pretty terrible and are going to be lucky to pull off most anything against that top half/middle of the conference. So those middle teams will be able to stay afloat off that for a little while.

Not sure I agree about the deserving part. But when its all said and done, the Big East will get no more then 8 teams in at the most IMO.

Yeah I agree with this.

I don't care if it was the 11th(last) place team in the Big Ten if they have a better resume than other teams out there, they deserve the spot.

Totally agree. The one thing about the BE is the fact that an 11-12 team has plenty of opportunities to build their resume.

No team that finishes below .500 in their league deserves to make the field.

So reward the Big East teams who were brave enough to schedule difficult OOC games. But say a team like Cincinnati is even sitting in the 9 spot and hasn't gone above .500 in conference play, there is no way you could justify taking that team because of the Big East label.

I realize that you have to take a million things into the equation and it is not necessarily the 9,10,11 spot team's fault that the rest of the country might be having a down year, but I don't see why you should be rewarded for losing. There are lots of teams that could and would win 7 Big East games a year.

As of last night there were 8 BE teams in the top 13 of the RPI! Something tells me that is swewed.

All this hollerin' about whether where to draw a cutoff line in a field of 65 teams... and the "Football Playoffs NOW" crowd thinks thinks a playoff system for football will solve things?

You can't bitch. Win your conference and you're in. You control your own destiny here, and you don't control shit in CFB.
