This tends to be discussed every year, figured I would bring it up again. Taking it one step farther, who are your "2 deep" players at each position??
PG- D Williams, Rose
SG- Kobe, Wade
SF- Bron, Durant
PF- Pau, ???
C- Howard, Bynum - both by default.
Those are mine. There really are only 2 true centers in the League anymore, Howard and Bynum, so they are there by default. The PG position right now is loaded, especially with young guys; you've got guys like CP3, Rondo, Westbrook, Rose, Wall, and D Williams. But then you still have the older guys who are playing at a high level; Nash, Parker, and Billups. IMO SG will be Kobe and then Wade until Kobe retires. SF is Bron and Durant for years to come.
I have NO IDEA who the 2nd best PF in the League is, maybe Dirk? Maybe Kevin Love? Maybe Timmy? Maybe Blake Griffin? I do know that it is not Chris Bosh. Hell I could even list Bron as the 2nd PF, but he has a very limited back to the basket game.

So you basically want people to list their opinion of who the best two players in the league are at their position? Or list an all-star team.

The best 2 players at each position.
Which I guess would turn into an all star team....

PG - Chris Paul/Deron
SG - Kobe/not sure, hardest position to define imo
SF - Durrant/LBJ
PF - Toughest to gauge as defense is often over looked (thus love wont make my list) Pau Gasol and Al Hortford
C - Howard (I hate his whining)/ Duncan
SG - Kobe/not sure, hardest position to define imo
SF - Durrant/LBJ

That's the other thing that makes it tough.
Timmy is a PF, but plays both. And Al Horford is really a PF but plays center.

I think chosing a SG is the toughest as I dont think there are many to realisticly chose from. Granted Kobe is #1, no brainer. After him though it becomes muddied for me. Wade plays all positions 1-3. A guy like Joe Johnson is up there but, but he lacks so much on the defensive end. Now a guy like Ray Allen is a prototypical SG, but pretty much only scores and at his age its hard for me to pick him. So that leaves players like a Gerald Wallace/Wilson Chandler who play every position from the 2-4. Wallace can't stay healthy and Chandler hasn't been doing it long enough, plus plays in D'Antoni's system. Is a player like Ginobli in contention? This season he has an arguement but its hard to forget he's been a bench player majority of his career. When I think 2 guard, he's not one that pops into my head. I suppose Curry technically plays the SG spot, but again lacks on defense and I would have a hard time starting him at the 2 on my team bc of his size.

PG - Paul, Westbrook
SG - Bryant, Wade
SF - Lebron, Durant
PF - Amare, Dirk
C - Howard, Lopez?
Makes more sense to move Amare to C and move someone like Griffin to PF

I think sg is by far the easiest choice. Next is sf bc melo deserves a bit of thought.

You know I totally forgot about Melo. He would definitely be my number 3. I just think KD has a more complete game than him at this stage.

KD plays defense thus better.

PG: Deron Williams and Derrick Rose
SG: Kobe and D-Wade
SF: Lebron and Carmelo Anthony
PF: Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki
C: Dwight Howard and Brook Lopez
SG was definitely the easiest. C was pretty easy. PF was not too tough. Was really tough to take Melo over Kevin Durant at SF. PG was damn near impossible. I'd be just as content with CP3 and Rondo as I am with D Will and Rose.

After thinking about it some more, should Bogut be getting some looks for second best behind Howard?
For consideration:
Lopez - 19 ppg, 6 rpg, 1.5 bpg
Bogut - 13 ppg, 12 rpg, 3 bpg
Also find it astounding, that Lopez has had one, yes just one, double-double this year.
