They've made it happen before (controlling a robotic prosthetic with brain waves), although I'm skeptical as well if this is really as big a breakthrough as they're making it out to be.

Crazy. I was just talking to my sister about this. She's an engineer for a medical equipment manufacturer and she sat through a seminar that discussed mind controlled robotic prosthetics. At the time, they were using chimps with microchips in their brains that would communicate with the robots. I thought she was full of it, but apparently these kinds of medical breakthroughs are real.
