I'm not even sure they exist. but I'm looking to go with a foam air filter (i've heard they filter better and allow more air flow) for my 2011 Sierra. I used to have one on my 2007 Dodge, but the company that made those is now defunct.
anyone on OC have any recommendations or know where to get one, google has been little help.

I would check out a performance/racing parts store in your area.

Yeah, K&N are pretty good. Reusable, good quality.

but they're not foam, are they?
i wish i could remember the name of the company that made the one for my old truck, they went under in like 2008 because they're business model was shit, but they made the best air filter ever (IMO).
EDIT:
FWIW i think I'm going to try to go with the Weapon R system. seems like a similar (albeit goofy with the colored foam and what now) system to what my dodge had.

Yeah, they're foam. You clean them and re-oil them. They have a spray can of oil you buy separately, last a long time. They tell you not to clean the when they appear overly dirty as it increases the filtering ability but doesn't restrict air flow. I kept mine pretty clean though.

K&N is your best bet. I am browsing my new Jeg's catalog now. Only a few weeks until the dirt flies at Volusia !
