How great are his movies? The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Inception, and The Prestige are all among my favorite 10-15 movies.

I have not seen Memento or Insomnia, but are they on the same level as the ones I mentioned?

Memento is awesome.

Insomnia is filmed beautifully being set in Alaska, but the story isn't nearly as compelling and Pacino and Robin Williams weren't particularly good in their roles.

Insomnia isn't bad. I really dig Williams and Pacino in it. Nolan is the man though.

I agree, it isn't bad. Just doesn't rise to the level of his other works IMO.

The OP needs to get off the internet, stop chatting with us jackwagons and drive to the nearest blockbuster or redbox and get Memento. Or go buy it at Wal-mart or Best Buy.

Memento is great, though can get verrrrrrry annoying and repetitive.

Insomnia was a good flick. The fact I consider it Nolan's worst film says a lot about him, because it is a good movie to be sure, just not up to the level or the budget of the newer stuff.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll probably get Memento tomorrow and watch it and come back with a review. Sounds like it should be pretty enjoyable.

He is too legit. I am not at all worried about Dark Knight Rises simply because he is still involved. I don't think he would put out a Batman film that wasn't on the level of the first two he did.

It's going to be hard to match the last one though. It as one of the rare films that surpassed the movie for which it was a sequel. A lot of directors have a tendency to abandon story for the sake of bigger and better effects in follow-ups like this. I think that he's smart enough not to do that, however, the studio will want more and bigger effects, and they are the money, so you never know.

Thats true, but Nolan has some power in his work at this point. The studios will let proven directors do their thing.

Agreed. I don't think that he'll go all Michael Bay and just blow stuff up and completely forget about a plot line. Batman Begins was largely a studio movie. Dark Night was filmed in Chicago and had a vastly larger scope. Hard to see how they can top that.

I dont expect them to top it, because like you said, that will be very tough. But I think Chris Nolan knows how much people loved the first 2 and he wont settle for anything that isnt awesome. That doesnt mean better than TDK, but it can be worse and still amazing.
