Ironically this date coincides with the old Alabama tradition of selling the biggest stud on the plantation every year on the second Saturday in January.

i believe this is a stipulation of his contract.
Give Cam credit for having this shit in writing.Cam Newton Playing Agreement wrote:Clause 132-54 Section G:
If the signee is to achieve either a Heisman trophy or a National Championship Appearance in any contract year, he is to recieve:
[indent]i. A bonus of $50,000 for each of the accomplishments.
ii. If both are achieved, an additional bonus of $50,000.
iii. If both are achieved in the same contract season, an additional bonus of $100,000 plus an Honorary day in the state of Alabama.[/indent]
