Newsome transferred to Ball State. Not sure of the reason, though.

He was in Tressel's dog house for a good bit last season, and I don't think he had worked his way out even under Fickell. I believe it had to do with academics, mostly, but I've since heard his attitude was more "me" oriented than team oriented.

Craig Krenzel's take on the QB situation

http://www.toledoblade.com/Ohio-State/2011/08/02/Krenzel-sees-2-types-of-OSU-QBs.html
Possibly a bigger issue than who will start for the Buckeyes when they open the season against Akron is which player will be designated as the backup, Krenzel said. He sees Bauserman and Graham as traditional pocket passers, while Guiton and Miller offer more running options at the position.

"The part I find the most interesting is that we've got four guys, but we've got basically two different types of quarterbacks," he said. "I'd really only be comfortable with the two-deep if it's consistent with the type of offense you are going to be running. It's really unfair to ask the other 10 guys, especially your offensive line, to play two different styles of offense like that."

Zwick was Troy Smith's backup, Pryor was Boeckman's, then Boeckman was Pryor's and then Bauserman was Pryor's. It didn't seem to cause to big of a problem the last couple of years.

James Louis probably transferring. I'm not convinced he ever really was set on OSU.

Pleased to see that Braxton checked in at 6'3" 215lbs. He was injury prone during high school. Hopefully he can avoid the injury bug this year. I'm hoping that Taylor Graham would step up should something happen.

Heuerman is also quickly becoming one of my favorite players in this year's freshman class.

I'm convinced that if he can't work his way into the current lineup of receivers, he was never good enough to play at OSU in the first place.

just a little gun shy now?

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/6836665/ohio-state-buckeyes-confiscate-players-jim-tressel-wristbands
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two days after several Ohio State freshmen proudly displayed wristbands supporting deposed Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel, the university took away the wristbands and refunded the players' money.

Ohio State spokesman Jerry Emig said Friday that officials wondered if wearing the wristbands -- which said "JT" on them -- were an NCAA violation. Emig said Ohio State decided to take a "cautionary" approach after the wristbands, which were sold by an Ohio State staffer, were mentioned prominently in several media reports.

At a news conference on Wednesday to introduce the freshmen, several wore the wristbands. They said they did so out of support for Tressel, who was forced out on May 30 for knowing players had broken NCAA rules but not reporting it.

No, Curtis Grant. Obviously Brown is big, being a lineman and all. You don't see too many Freshman linebackers coming in @ 247lbs. He's the biggest LB on the team.

Oh well. Louis has never done anything at Ohio State and Dorian Bell is a headcase. Somebody will be more than happy to take their spots.
