Has anyone done this? What are the positives and negatives of rooting devices? I've heard of it, but never had the need to. I read that a rooted Nook Color can download Android apps, that would be the primary purpose of the root. What say OC nation? To root or not to root and why?

Here in the next month they are supposed to put out an update that allows access to the Android market. I'll probably wait for that
I have heard of people rooting them, but I'm not sure how they do it. I saw a video on youtube that shows a rooted nook color and it was kind of cool. It looked like how a droid looks, with the difference obviously being the bigger screen. The guy in the video said everything is still functional after you root it too.
I'm too afraid to try and root it. I think I'd probably break it haha

best place to find out how to root android devices..... It seems hard but once you understand the language and get things downloaded, very easy!!!

I've read that also. That's all I'm looking for, so I'll give them a chance to do that before I go messing around trying to root something.

I just rooted my Droid last night. Love it. Still not sure what all it's capable of though.
