Reports are that the Rangers are in the final stages of a deal with Adrian Beltre on a deal for 6 years and $96 million.
Mind you he is a soon to be 32 year old 3rd baseman who has managed to have his 2 best years only in contract walk years.
You can see from a mile away this contract will be a disaster for them as he typically goes into decline once he gets paid, and couple that with the fact he will have 3 years at $16 million per after the age of 35 (when the decline typically really kicks in for most players) and you have to wonder what on earth Rangers management is smoking. To me this is no different than giving Pavano a long term deal even knowing his similar history when not playing for a new contract.
I am not sure what Boras has over these owners, but to me this and the Werth contract are just awful in the sense that they are paying superstar money to guys who are just good players who will spend half the duration of their deals on the wrong side of 35.
It is unreal to me how he continues to pull rabbits out of his hat the way he does and teams just keep lining up to buy his snake oil.

How he gets teams to bid against themselves is beyond me.

If you are a MLB player, why in the world would you not hire Boras?

that's a stupid deal for the Rangers... still trying to pay of creditors (9 of which are former players) yet you dole this guy $96 million, who's nowhere near worth it

Dan Uggla just got $62 million from Atlanta...
I'm a Yankees fan, but now I'll admit its out of control... People paying too much for guys who don't consistently produce

Uggla has averaged 33hrs and 100 RBI the last 5 years, that's pretty consistent.
Agree on Beltre though.
