GIANT KILLER:
You can call Sam Beasley the "giant killer" after he beat Daytona 500 champion Jamie McMurray and Sprint Cup regular AJ Allmendinger in go-kart races held on Daytona's sprint track Wednesday.
The 16-year-old driver, making his first appearance in the WKA Daytona KartWeek senior divisions, beat the pros in the first TAG kart final. Another is scheduled today over the half-mile road course.
"They are really car racers and kart racers, it's a win-win," said Beasley, from Leroy, Ohio. "We have one more final to go. We'll see how it goes then."

The two big winners were Sam Beasley and Grant Quinlan. Each won two finals.
Beasley left the track with his head held high after beating McMurray and Allmendinger in both his finals.
"How about that kid beating Allmendinger and McMurray in a go-kart race?" Chitwood said. "He can leave here and tell people he beat the Daytona 500 champion in a karting event.
"That's fantastic. What a great story. Those are the stories that happen at Daytona."
McMurray and Allemendinger are serious kart racers, McMurray is a former national kart champion.
