Yeah, I was kind of hoping for a Desean Jackson/Percy Harvin type in the draft. I think Little should do well with the YAC but I wanted a real burner.

Cleveland Browns--Trading backwards from #6 made perfect sense for the rebuilding Browns, as the sum of the deal should help a lot more than Julio Jones could over the next three seasons.

Mike Holmgren apparently had a theme working for the players he did ultimately choose with his first three picks: character is not an issue. Phil Taylor fled Penn State for running afoul of Happy Valley mores, Jabaal Sheard had a suspension for assault at Pitt, and Greg Little missed all of last year for unapologetically breaking NCAA rules. Of the gambles, I like Taylor the best; he�s eerily similar to the departed Shaun Rogers, a massive space-eater that can penetrate and dominate when motivated. Sheard strikes me as a better 3-4 OLB than 4-3 DE, even though he has the size to handle playing with a hand in the dirt. He�s coming off a recent surgery that had him flagged on many draft boards and went significantly higher than many expected.

Little essentially parlayed about three good games at wide receiver into being a 3rd round pick, largely based on his great size/speed/strength numbers. I know lots of talent evaluators that threw up flags left and right about Little, and an offensive coach from a competing team told me Little was �the most immature guy we met with.� Obviously Cleveland had a huge need for a legit wideout, but they could have had the higher-rated Torrey Smith or Titus Young a round earlier and maybe still had a crack at Sheard here. Kansas City took the superior (but also troublesome) Jonathan Baldwin with the Atlanta pick when the Browns traded up for Taylor, and there were still several decent values at DT later on. I think Holmgren largely mishandled the value and priorities early on.

Fifth rounder Jordan Cameron has outstanding potential but very little tangible results thus far. They�re hoping he is this year�s Jimmy Graham, but the odds are good Cameron will not have much of an impact until at least 2012. 6th rounder Buster Skrine falls into that boat as well--a prospect with great upside but a long way to go. I find Owen Marecic a wasted pick, entirely redundant with Peyton Hillis with Montario Hardesty also coming back. Jason Pinkston and Eric Hagg were worthwhile late picks, and I think Pinkston can eventually start at guard if he can stay healthy.

First, AGAIN, Holmgren ISN'T making the picks Second, right at the beginning of round #2, ESPN's "best available" had Sheard as one of their top 10 in that round. Third, Little was taken in the second, NOT third, round. Fourth, and FINALLY, Marecic is a FULLBACK/LINEBACKER so he's NOT a "wasted pick" with the chance of Vickers being gone.

Agreed, granted he had to write about 32 teams but still he/his editor should have caught those mistakes. SMH.

I didn't want Torrey Smith because he's a stretch the field type of guy and I've heard he isn't polished in his route running. Great deep threat but that's not what the Browns need. He'll work for Flacco because Flacco has a gun, McCoy doesn't.

Before the Lions watched defensive tackle Nick Fairley fall into their lap, they tried to make an even bigger splash on draft day.

As mentioned in one-liners, the Lions tried to move up to acquire cornerback Patrick Peterson. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has some new details on the package of picks they attempted to use to grab the cornerback ultimately taken by the Cardinals.

The Lions offered their first-, second- and fourth-round choices to the Cardinals to go get Peterson, but Arizona declined. It will be an interesting trade to look back on in a few years.

Eight picks after Peterson, the Lions took Fairley. They nabbed Boise State receiver Titus Young with their second round pick. They later packaged their fourth-round pick in a deal to move up for running back Mikel Leshoure.

Time will tell if the Cardinals made the right move in turning down the deal. In something as unpredictable as the draft, we tend to think teams have a better chance of hitting a home run if they get more swings at the plate — even after the first round.

McShay did an early 2012 mock draft, and he has the Browns picking #1 overall. That would be very bittersweet (more so bitter), because we would get Luck. He also has us drafting Mike Adams (OT, OSU) with the 26th pick.

A lot can happen a year from now, and I don't think the Browns will be the worst team in the NFL. I see them picking at almost the same spot or close to #10.

I see us going about 6-10. There is no way we will be the worst team in the NFL next year.

I also don't see the Falcons doing as well as they did last year. The 2nd 1st rounder should be top 20.

Maybe if McCoy is piss poor the Browns could package those 2 first rd picks to take Luck.

I like to think Colt is our guy and we just need to build around him.......I say take Blackmon or Jeffries the WR's from Oklahoma St. and South Carolina. Then you get a big time LB with the second pick.

I would love to get Blackmon.

But, depending on FA signings, we may be looking at LB with our first pick next year.

I'm thinking one of those 1st picks will be an athletic LB and the other an O-Lineman IF they don't completely suck and have to go QB. I saw an early mock that had them selecting 3rd (Buffalo was 1st-Luck, Carolina 2nd-Blackmon), taking the QB from Oklahoma.

Not a fan of Landry Jones, he's got a lot of improving to do to even be considered in the first round IMO.

Another early mock with Browns taking a corner at #8 and WR at #24. Don't think that's how it will go down but damn, between this draft and next years' projection, Butch Davis has some talent down there in North Carolina...

He has been recruiting very well and he develops kids to play in a pro system. And he is a damn good coach, much respect for him. He just couldn't figure out how to evaluate and develop the talent at the next level.

Hard to win when you're NFL talent is suspended by the NCAA for the season. Also its not like the ACC is a powerhouse conference like the Big Ten as well. Hmmm, maybe the coach isn't as good as he thinks he is.
