No shit? I've only been pounding the Avery "drum" ever since he got cut. Dude runs a 4.25, knows Shurmur's system and would be an idea slot guy.

Phil Taylor #4 rookie in the NFL with Sheard getting a "notable"....

The Browns show is still on at 6-7, and won't ever move as it was a big thing for the station to even get the Browns to formally acknowledge they're alive.

X's & O's with the pros stays from 7-9 leading into R&R.

3-6 is the only thing up in the air, and now that Brinda and Fedor are essentially free (R&R will replace his Indians/Cavs aftershows) I think their is a good chance they are going to end up in that slot with a 3rd person. Brinda was playing coy today, but I got the sense he is moving up in the world.

Only thing I could see is maybe Brinda moving to 9 with Fedor/Goldhammer and having the Really big show go back to 9-12 and give Rome his 3rd hour back, with Rizzo moving to 3-6.

I spend all day listening to 850 at work (and 1350 from 12-1), so I am certainly interested in how this pans out.

All I know is the trick bag punks have been relegated to the bitch slot at 9-12, which kind of surprises me as Reghi has went from having his own show at 3, to having Roda, to now being in the worst time slot this side of Munch. Kind of surprising.
This station is DEAD. Nothing to see here.

It is amazing that it was just a few weeks ago at 850 they were snickering at the idea of 92.3 being competition, and now about 3 weeks later they are in full blown panic mode down at the Galleria.

Rizzo is about the only commodity they have that seems to have a following. He can't fill every slot, although he has been doing 7 hours of live show this week (9-1,3-6) so maybe they are just going to hand the station over to him.

Fedor sounded like he was about to cry on air when they were talking about the changes, because he has no show now other than his bit parts on the RBS. Seemed to definitely knock him down a few pegs. Goldhammer was also shitting himself that they are testing Rizzo by himself, because he also would be replaced if they deemed Rizzo to be better on his own than with the romper room crowd.

Besides Goldhammer & Fedor, I think the fact that Kenny Roda, a known Steeler shill, who likes to take potshots at the Browns EVERY chance he gets, holds down a time slot rubs people the wrong way.

KNR had a monopoly on the city as the "only game in town" and now that they have competition that is "matter of fact' about sports and doesn't have to use gimmicks (TBPer's) and rumor mongering (Rizzo) people feel it's refreshing and are jumping ship in droves.

People call in ALL of the time on 92.3 and take shots at KNR but the guys on 92.3 won't take the bait. They just say "thanks for listening" and "we're worried about ourselves, not what's going on down the dial."

The fact that a bandwagoner/frontrunner like Roda is allowed to talk sports in CLEVELAND is enough to turn me off from listening to them.

Defenses Define Division:

After three games of the 2011 season, there's one impression that stands out: Defenses rule the division.

All four AFC North teams rank in the top half of defense in the NFL, including two in the top three (Pittsburgh and Cincinnati). No other division has more than two defenses in the top 13.

A look at those defenses (with ranking in parentheses):
  • STEELERS (No. 2): Yes, the "old" defense is second only to the Tennessee Titans. The scary part is Pittsburgh has yet to hit its stride defensively. Unlike previous seasons, the strength isn't run defense. The Steelers rank first against the pass, allowing 8 yards fewer passing per game than any other team in the NFL. Strong safety Troy Polamalu is still flying around, and cornerback Ike Taylor is quietly getting the job done.
  • BENGALS (No. 3): Cincinnati has one of the most underrated defensive fronts in the NFL. Nose tackle Domata Peko and defensive end Jonathan Fanene always seem to be around the ball. Rey Maualuga is making a solid transition from outside to middle linebacker. The big test comes Sunday against Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buffalo Bills.
  • BROWNS (No. 9): This isn't the same defense that finished No. 22 last season. Under new coordinator Dick Jauron, the excitement has been generated by the play of rookies Phil Taylor and Jabaal Sheard. Joe Haden is gaining more and more attention as a shutdown cornerback while defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin continues to go unnoticed despite an extremely strong season.
  • RAVENS (No. 13): The aggressive style of first-year defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano is a major reason why Baltimore ranks first in fewest points allowed. Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and linebacker Terrell Suggs are becoming the tone-setters with their play this year. But linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed both still have plays left in them.

About the WKNR stuff, I heard that both Reghi & Goldhammer are finalists for the Cavs radio play by play gig. Goldhammer? If Joe Tait were dead he'd be turning over in his grave.

Reghi would be good, though. I always liked him on TV, and it's not like he wanted to give that up (he got bumped to make room for McCleod, who got the job because he was Gilbert's buddy).

I actually like Reghi on KNR and as the Cavs voice but Britney Spears (Hammer)? No way!

During the game my friend would yell very loudly "ROBISIKIE SUCKS!" whenever failbiskie was on the field. Other people in the section joined him toward the end of the game.

I could've sworn failbiskie heard him at one point.

It may crush the female fanbase but Hillis got engaged, hence the "congrats."

Just learned that Steve Slaton had neck surgery. This might explain why he was cut and no team has picked him up yet.

I've been bitching & moaning about the Browns getting this guy since he was released. How ironic would it be if with one weeks' practice he came into CBS and torched the Browns secondary? Eff you, Robiskie...piece of crap!

Jackson named AFC Player of the Month

Linebacker D'Qwell Jackson was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month, the league announced Thursday morning.

Cleveland Browns linebacker D’Qwell Jackson has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September, the NFL announced today.

In his first three games back after missing the previous 26 contests due to injury, Jackson amassed 30 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery as the Browns posted a 2-1 record during the month. His 30 tackles are tied for fourth in the NFL, while his 2.5 sacks rank second among all AFC linebackers and is tied for fourth in the conference. The Browns defense has allowed just five touchdowns this season, which is tied for fourth in the league.

This is the first AFC award of Jackson’s six-year career. He is the first Brown to be selected as either AFC Defensive or Offensive Player of the Month since the award was established in 1986.
