I got a 32" vizio for the bedroom and called DirecTV about adding an HD DVR to that room and they want $199 plus $5 a month to use it. I have netflix so want something that can stream movies.
I was looking at Roku(runs around $80) but basically only does movies. Then say Google TV which is around $250 but seems to be pretty sweet. My only question is, does it work with DirecTV

Based on what I've read, the proper question is "Does it work at all?"

I didn't realize it did all that stuff as well, thought it was just a standalone Netflix player...this may be my next purchase.

Apple TV wirelessly connects (802.11n WiFi) your computer (Apple or PC) to the HDMI on the TV. I just got one ($99) and it suppose to stream Netflix, i-Tunes (music or videos) etc. Will be hooking it up today and hopefully watching some movies tonight. I'm hoping Hulu and other sites work with it too.

I got my mom a Roku XD and a 6 month subscription to Hulu Plus for Christmas. The Roku is pretty cool. It will do netflix, hulu plus, Amazon video, youtube, mlb.tv, pandora, etc.
Amazon has a deal going on now, if you buy/rent a movie or tv show of $5 or more from their VOD service you get a $20 credit towards the Roku XD. I bought American Psycho for $5.99 and it made the XD $59.99.

Just saw this. Hulu is not available on the Apple Tv. That is one of the main reasons I went with the Roku for my mom.

If you do the deal through Amazon it's considerably more than $10 cheaper.

Roku.com had $10 off their HD model. So I got it for $79 with shipping. Best Buy was sold out in store and online. Messed around with the Google TV but couldn't imagine paying an extra $200 for what I want to do.

One of my best purchases of the year.
