Hoover wins over Benedictine. Hoover was very well coached. Benedictine was very athletic. The one big guy had a killer spin move in the post.
Hiland 58
Glen Oak 43
Hiland gets it done on the boards.

Mark must have got his message across during the halftime speech. I really wish I could have been there for this one.

Hiland did a better job on the boards in the 2nd half. Benedictine's 6'-8" and 6'-6" workhorses in the paint are a tall order. They are athletic and physical. Bonifant did an excellent job especially in the 2nd half battling them down low. Their frustration showed in the 4th quarter.
Back to back 3's by Boyd and solid foul shooting down the stretch to seal the game. I was glad to see Jason Miller get more aggressive on the offensive end. Another thing that stuck out to me was Kaufman getting the ball in the open court as alone as he has ever been. He has thrown it down dozens of times, even a little show time with reverse dunks and to my knowledge had never missed.. But with the game on the line in the 4th quarter he chose to take no chances and simply laid it in the hole. Winning the game was definitely on his mind. Hiland wanted to win this game. Good defense and an overall team effort got them the win.

very nice win last night for the hawks, #20 & #30 (I think) were the real deal, doubt we will see better guard play the rest of the year (#14) and down low the Bengals were very physical, nice to see some attitude down there as well wearing the white & black........Noah's 2 treys late were as clutch as it gets, seger battled hard and has tremendous foot work down low, would like to see Mark just pound the ball down there till the opposition can stop it. and Jason hitting 6 straight ff down the stretch won the game.......nice win.
oh and my # didn't get pulled from the hopper for the half court shot at the Harley, dude went old school with a two handed brick/block launched overhead and just caught a little right side glass, luckily the glass survived and didn't need to be replaced before the 2nd half.

Nice win by Hiland. They did do a little better job on the boards the second half, but very tough to get boards against the big and physical guys of Beney. There were a number of times we had good position on defense, as well as for rebounds, and simply got pushed away. Without a foul call there (and not saying there necessarily should be one called every time) not sure what else we could do. Agree, Seger did a great job.
They gave us the threes all night long; had we been able to make some the first half, would have been a different game perhaps, but got some key ones to fall in the 4th, and thought we played poised and smart for the most part. Luke played well again for the second straight night and gave us an offensive boost; a nice team win against a good athletic team. Good job guys.
Yeah, I got my half court % up to about 8%; think at least I could have drawn iron. Was glad as well to see the backboard survive the attempt!

Listening to/reading Coach Stricula's (sp) comments pre and post game were kind of entertaining to me. Don't know if anyone else picked up on it. i understand when you have that athleticism and swagger your gonna just go out and do what you do, but on Channel 2 it was "oh, its just another game. We've played Mentor, CCC, etc, all on back-to-backs... we've got the athletes" and so on. Not a word said about the opponent (Granted he did only get asked two questions). Anyway, Daily Record had a good write up as usual (TR had the typical 5 or 6 lines) and the coach's quotes are pretty extensive and um... I didn't realize that Seger was the bully in that match-up. Maybe he just wasn't used to anyone being able to push back with any kind of strength, but #20 wasn't the one who ended up on the deck a few times
Agree 100% with Coach S that they don't win that game (and maybe GlenOak) without the loss last week. Great week to lead into 2011 for this team

good to see you there tflo. Yeah, that Seger is quite the bully, huh?! Was glad to see him and Jalen trying giving a little of "the business" back to their guys.( Noah and others tried to push and shove, but not sure how much they felt any of that.) I think these last few games have shown we need to get a little more physical at times. I'll tell you, to me it looks like things get very physical under there at times, but I guess that's basketball these days. Overall thought our guys handled things quite well.
agree too, hesston, that we could pund the ball more consistently in to the post. Seger killed us last year doing that; we could do more of the same now that he is wearing the pretty colors instead of the orange and black! Plus Noah, Dylan, and Neil and even Jalen can handle themselves in there as well. (more against other teams than the big guys last night, but Seger still got some good inside looks last night as well.) Could open the outside up more a little as well doing so. And jason was clutch at the line in the 4th! But like the direction we're heading.

sat with my buddy from plain city who watches a ton of city games in Cbus, he has seen it a million times the refs may call ticky tack stuff in the country but "let em play" in the hood.........I have filed that in my memory banks in in the event we would play some teams from the hood in the tourny.....could be a factor
