How many chatters have to travel for Christmas to visit family and friends? How far do you have to go?

I have to travel down to the great Ohio river to my Grandmas for the Family thing down there. It's about 100 miles one way. Always go there on Christmas eve and drive back in the evening after the festivities.

Drove from NC to NE Ohio, about 540 miles and luckily only took 7 and a half hours, through the night Friday night. Last year it took about 26 hours due to a blizzard. Drove up with my brother but have to do the whole trip back myself on Sunday.

Not able to be with family, unfortunately, too expensive to fly home, but will be heading up to Tauranga/Mt. Maunganui, New Zealand from the 24th to the 28th. Will be nice to spend the holidays at the beach!

Usually we have to drive from Temperance, MI (Just across the border from Toledo) up to the in-law's Christmas Eve morning for breakfast, then up to the grandma in-law's house for Christmas Eve dinner, which is a little NW of Detroit, so about 1 1/2 hours. The drive from there down to St. Marys, OH that night, which takes almost 4 hours and usually arrive around 9pm for my step dad's side of the family. We wake up Christmas morning for my mom's side of the family. Drive home early the next day for the other side of the in-laws. It sucks because we are constantly driving.

I can't wait till we have our 1st kid, so everyone can come to me.

DC to Portsmouth yesterday. Usually takes 7-7 1/2 hours, but massive traffic out of DC and a blinding snow storm near Morgantown made the trip 8 hours and 45 minutes.

No traveling this week. Went to Seattle last week - came back to Louisville and met my wife there for a visit with her family.

I dread flying around Thanksgiving and Christmas - call it the "amateur hour". The "once every three years" travelers are out and about, and still think the airlines are going to hold their hands all the way to Omaha just like they did in 1961.

Made the 130 mile trek to my parents house on Thursday. Came back to Massillon this afternoon, then had to go to Perry to the in-laws. Finally got home to open gifts at OUR house around 10:00 this evening.
