When I was a kid we used to get hundreds of Christmas cards from my parents friends, they we always fun to open and read. As of today I have received zero Christmas cards. The same number we received last year. Of course we never send any out.
Have the old fashioned Christmas card routine been replaced by technology, laziness, or just plain old apathy? Or were Christmas cards just a '60's and '70's thing?

My parents send about 30 out and we usually get 20-30 from friends and family.
Wildcats and I sent and/or handed out 24 cards and I have personally gotten 4 from friends that are around my age (25). This is the first year I've sent any but I plan to keep doing it.

You would be best to answer your own question. Why did you stop sending them out? We still do the Christmas card thing, but the amount we receive drops just about every year. It's not that expensive to do, but is it enough to stop people from doing it.

We sent out about 20 this year, got about 10 in the mail from others this year.

I didn't send as many as I normally do only because I lost my address book. 
I also didn't receive as many as normal. It's very time consuming and probably one of the easiest things to cut out if you find yourself running out of money or time.

we don't get as many as we used to.
Then again, I don't think we've ever done a family christmas card to send out anyways...

We've never sent them in the past, but we have a baby now, so we sent out about 15 this year with a pic of our daughter ---- We received 8-10 in the mail, a little less than last year I'd say...

we sent out about 80. have recieved about 60. it's a big deal to my wife's family.

Do you send cards to people you see during the Holiday Season? If so, isn't a personal greeting better than a postal greeting?

we haven't been home for the holidays in 2 of the past 3 years, we we just send them out to everyone and if we make it home so be it.

We send around 50 out a year...get about the same amount in return.

We send out around 100 each year and receive probably 30-40 in return. It's not super expensive (probably less than $200 all-in) and not super time-consuming. We figure the returns in the form of goodwill and exposure to professional colleagues probably are dollar-for-dollar better than most other avenues.

We're late getting ours out, but it is more of a holiday card to friends and professional contacts - thus we send it out much more than we receive, as we don't expect cards from clients. But then again my wife gets cards from vendors who we don't reciprocate. At any rate my wife just recovered from surgery and we have too much on our plate now for us to get them out before Saturday.
We're one of the few people in our circle that actually send a card with a handwritten message and signature. 95%+ of the cards we receive are nothing more than a photo exchange of people's kids with a generic message. I don't want to sound overly judgmental, but this is a relatively recent phenomenon. Don't really get it.

Don't send 'em, don't get 'em...and that's OK by me. I just sya, "Merry Christmas" when I see them. It's a lot cheaper and far more efficient.

We are sending out roughly 150 this year and receive one back from nearly everyone that we send to. They are fun to send, as we do the family picture thing or a picture of the kids so that those people who don't see routinely during a calendar year can see the change in our kids. They are also fun to receive for the same reasons, as well as reading the letters that some people send along with the cards! Great tradition in our family that I hope continues on for my kids when they are older and married.

I have never sent any nor received any, although I do have a friend who likes to send out a Christmas email every year on Christmas Eve. The way he rambles on makes it sound like something from Kanye West, though.

If it were up to me, we wouldn't send them out. But my wife loves sending them. We sent out about 40 this year, and we've gotten about 20...mainly from family.

No I wasn't drinking when I started this thread at 12:35 this afternoon. There are days I do start drinking that early, but today wasn't one of them.
