The MLB headquarters are in our building. Just a minute ago, I shared an elevator with MLB Commissioner Bud Selig and another MLB exec. They were talking about Jeter's new contract and shared some laughs about what most people would be willing to do for a $51 million contract over three years (including living with one's mother in law for 6 months, as long as there was a handy supply of Jack Daniels around). Funny guy--I've seen him around before, but never talked to him in person.

Cool story, I know.

FWIW, the MLB offices are pretty sweet, with furniture made out of baseball bats. Whenever we do a building fire drill, my floor exits down to the MLB floors, so we get an up close look at their offices. Nice space.

That's pretty cool. Not always agreed with everything he's done as a comissioner, but still sweet

Yeah reminds me of the time me and Kennesaw Mountain Landis shared a cab in NYC and he was joking about the Black Sox scandal.

I have to admit that a $17 million/year contract for Jeter is pretty frickin' funny just by itself.
