So, my 7 year old is a wrestler, and last night they (Mogadore) had a wreslting match at Rootstown High School.

They had all levels of wrestling there, from preschool up to high school.

The high schools had a tri-meet between Mogadore/Rootstown/Aurora.
The junior high was a dual match between Mogadore/Rootstown.
The grade school was between Mogadore/Rootstown.

Mogadore's high school team has a kid on it that I've seen around town and talked to a few times, but never really got much of his whole story. The kid has some kind of mental problem/issue. I don't know if its Down Syndrome, mental retardation, or what. The kid loves the sport of wrestling though and practices every day with the Mogadore high school team.

Well last night after the main matches for Mogadore vs Aurora was over, one of Aurora's best wreslters there that night wrestled an exhibition match against this kid from Mogadore (the kid obviously doesn't wrestle varsity).

I do not believe the Mogadore kid had ever got to wrestle an actual match outside of practice before, and this kid from Aurora, who could have easily tore him apart, let the kid pin him. He wrestled with him for a little while and didn't just lay on his back, he let the kid have as much fun as he wanted to and he let him pin him.

The crowd went nuts, the kid from Mogadore's parents were crying because the kid jumped up and was about as excited as he could possibly be.

The kid from Aurora will probably get just as much joy/satisfaction out of that than anyone else in my opinion.

In before the "Cool Story Bro" pictures pop up...

It is a good story. I applaud both programs for recognizing there are more important things in life than winning wrestling matches.

I've seen something similar done before and it does make you feel good. One of the reasons I love the sport. I applaud both teams for recognizing that opportunity.

I guess I'll be the asshole who says he wouldn't let anyone pin him intentionally, let alone win. A takedown? Sure. But no way I would let someone beat me.

If they are in the high school then they have to know the kid. There's only about 240 kids 9-12 in the high school.
