Since it's freezing balls, and I wish I were sitting on a beach right now(even though I don't think it's even warm at the beach), lets talk about summer vacation! What are your plans for vacation(s) this upcoming year.
So far I'll be hitting up Nashville in probably April, Holden Beach in June, and hopefully making it out to Vegas sometime in Sept/Oct.
PS. Feel free to include your address and your specific date of departure. Be Honest!!

How is Cherry Grove? I've always meant to check it out while we're down at Holden but never have.Def Leopard;601750 wrote:Cherry Grove Beach in SC with wife, 4 children, 2 sons in law and 2 grandchildren.

Wildcats and I have a free vacation to use sometime this year. We have several choices but haven't even started discussing them all. I'd also like to go to Tucson to see my brother, SIL and niece. I try to go once a year. We will also go see his dad in North Carolina.

To Florida in Feb. for the Shuttle Launch....if it actually happens (my Hubs works for NASA and wants to see one of the last launches). We drove down for the one in November but it ended up being a bust. Probably Disney again this Spring w/the 5 wild ones or a trip to Ohio to see my family and friends w/stops at Kings Island and Cedar Point.

We live a few hours North. I hear the beaches have cleaned up nicely and there are some good deals to be had because they are trying to drum up tourism. Have you ever tried Destin? It's beautiful as well!

We thought about Disney but since they have already been there and we are going again this spring we decided not to go. We took them to Sea World which they loved and then headed back home after he heard from people at mission control that the repairs "probably" were not going to happen in time for a launch in the next few days. Hopefully everything works out for us to see a launch this Feb.

We are heading to Siesta Key end of March/first of April. Other than that we don't have anything planned. Probably go back to Chicago sometime in June to visit relatives.

Cherry Grove is very family friendly. There are very few high rises so the beach is not crowded at all. Three story condos are very popular with 12-15 units in each, all with well equiped kitchens and most with washers and dryers. Restaurant row is minutes away as well as mini golf, ice cream shops, grocery stores, etc. Barefoot Landing is 15 minutes away and if you want to go to Myrtle Beach it is about a 30 minute drive. We really like it there and have been going the last 9 years.

Looking at the Sundial Resort in Sanibel Island, never been there but looks to be very nice. If you have been there feel free to provide any feedback.

Thanks for the info!! We really enjoy that area(between Wilmington and Myrtle). The main reason we like Holden is because it's not a big beach town and isn't very crowded, so you basically "own" the beach in front of your house. It makes it nice when you can just let the kids go down and play in the sand while you watch from the rockin' chair! We'll usually take a day and go to Barefoot Landing or Broadway at the Beach and stop in Calabash on the way back through for dinner. We tried the OBX a few years ago and didn't really care for the crowd, so we're back to Holden now.Def Leopard;601902 wrote:Cherry Grove is very family friendly. Trying to go to Europe, but taking 2 weeks off in a row proves difficult. A few weekend or 3 day trips to Myrtle and maybe out to Nebraska and Ohio to see some family. I actually plan on driving home this Friday to Ohio from NC. I pray to God the weather holds off. I got stuck in a blizzard last year and the 8 hour trip ended up taking over 25 hours with staying in a hotel because 77 was shut down.
