I have an acquaintance who actually works for one of the producers of this movie and he warned me that it was gonna be pretty badass.

Can't wait! May 6th!

Willing to keep an open mind, the Marvel films recently have been pretty underwhelming. Anything involving Kenneth Branagh gets the benefit of the doubt (although he is capable of working with crap projects - e.g. Wild Wild West).

The trailer was ok, not something that would make me rush to the theaters to see, but on the other hand a great trailer doesn't make a great film (Spiderman 3 -ugh, or Iron Man 2 - the trailer WAS the film).

Better question, when is this comic-book movie craze going to be over with? There has only be a few good ones and the rest have been shit.

Well to me the only bad ones have been Elektra and both Hulks. The rest have been decent to good.

I love the comic book movies. I grew up reading the comic books, so maybe that's why I like them.

I just try to figure out if they hold true to the comic books, I usually cannot remember how things go down though. I know there have been some real big mistakes with some of the movies in regards to keeping true to the comic books -- not that they try to keep to the comic books, but there are some big inaccuracies.

Can't agree:

Daredevil
Spiderman 3 (so bad it killed the franchise and Dunst's and possibly Maguire's careers)
Superman Returns
X-Men 3
Wolverine
Both Fatastic Fours
Catwoman
The Spirit
Watchmen
Ghost Rider
The Punisher
and even Iron Man 2

all had major flaws or in some instances were just godawful.

I forgot about Superman. Most of them have been bad. Catwoman wasn't good either. Spiderman 3 wasn't as good as the first 2 but I liked it. Fantastic Fours were both decent. I liked the other movies on your list though.

Ok that still leaves:

Spiderman
Spiderman 2
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
X-Men
X2
Iron Man
Kick Ass
Hellboy
Hellboy 2
300
Sin City

Not to mention quite a few in your list which weren't necessarily great, but weren't "godawful" either.

I enjoyed all of those films (I think Iron Man is extremely overrated but I still enjoyed it), but there still has been a ton of crap...typically from the Marvel universe.

Green Latern is coming out soon, starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role. I saw a preview at the movie theater. Hopefully it does not dissapoint.

This Thor clip looks great. I know they are working on the Avengers movie to come out in either 2011 or 2012. If you've watched Iron Man 2 and the second Hulk movie, they had a little teaser at the end.

Captain America in the near future too.

Never been a huge Thor fan, but this looks alright. Natalie Portman is a huge plus.

Just discredited any list. Wolverine was VERY good.

I love the comic movies. Yes there's been some terrible ones (e.g., Ghost Rider, Catwoman, Elektra, Sin City), but for the most part, they've been pretty good (or at least entertaining).

I'm excited about this one, although I don't think the trailer looked THAT thrilling. However, any movie with Natalie Portman is a HIT in my book.

Which is why the are doing a reboot (how is it a reboot after one film?) with a new director? Granted Aronosfsky is a more credited director than Hood, but it is obvious Fox/Marvel wasn't happy with the film's quality and performance. It is a mediocre 6.7 on IMDB - sounds like a fair rating to me.

Wolverine = Spiderman 3 (how anyone liked that film is beyond me) = Ang Lee's Hulk

BTW, Wolverine is VERY good but Sin City is terrible (8.3 on IMDB)? Interesting.

Because Sin City is one of those movies that has a cult following. If it wasn't for that devote following, it would be "just another poor film." Plus, everyone goes nuts over Alba's table dance... I think that gives it "points" for something that really has/had nothing to do with the film.
