I am 44 years old and have basically been a carpenter since I was 15 years old. Lately my arms feel like I have been hit in the funny bone constantly. My hands tingle and feel numb at night.

I went to the doctor this week, apparently I have carpal tunnel disease caused by repetitive action with my arms. Are you fucking kidding me? I thought only old ladies who work in the secretarial pool get this.

Any experiences or stories about this affliction?

slow down on the manual masturbation and go for a fleshlight. It is not nearly as repetitive.

Did the doc test you with all the pins and crap? If he only did the pressure point thing, I'd ask to do the regular testing, just to be sure.

I've got CT and sometimes it wakes me up with the pain in my hands, clear up to my elbow. Sometimes just talking on the phone, holding up to my ear, makes my hands numb and pained.
I opted to not go the surgery route, and instead, wear wrist supports (bands, actually) when I need to do some serious typing or computer work.

I started showing symptoms in the right hand about 14 years ago, kept getting worse when I used a mouse or an ink pen, or driving after 30 minutes. When it started tingling during the day for no reason, I decided to have the surgery 7 years ago, standard open release. Basically the CTS has gone away, and I do stretches for it every day to keep it that way, plus I use my left hand to run the mouse.

I recommend you see a doctor, have the nerve conduction test, and explore your treatment options - the problem also might be in your elbow instead of the wrist. Don't wait too long. Good luck!
