These refs call everything too...every point in the last five min it seems has been from the free throw line

Damn huge win for the Heels. I didn't think it was too likely after how they have played early on this season.

A fun game to watch. Good win for UNC, but not a bad loss for UK. It's fun to watch elite programs square off during the regular season in a true road game for one of the teams.

Hell of a win for the Heels. Not what I expected at all.

They got down by 8 in the 1st and battled back. Big time win and should be a HUGE momentum game for Carolina.

Tyler Zeller was a man. He just dominated. What a game.

Well, I sure hope so. Wouldnt want a girl on the court ;). UK shot VERY poorly in the 2nd half and Jones played pitifully.

Imagine if you could just combine these team.

UK has a great quad of wings with Knight, Lamb, Liggins and Miller and throw in Jones they have great talent, but no inside presence or depth. Carolina had the two best interior players in the game with Zeller and Henson.

How the hell was Vargas so highly rated at one point?

Am not impressed with him at all.

This is when you know Carolina and Kentucky are not having one of their better, or at least traditionally great, years:D

Just playing around. Had Jones shown up, I think this game would have been the Cats'. But you have to credit the Carolina defense for, whether directly or indirectly, being able to limit his offensive production today and the Carolina offense for taking advantage. Zeller certainly didn't play like a female like others have already pointed out (ha), but he did play strong and with will (I hate his physical appearance, by the way, especially his frolicking colic), something I'm not sure Carolina has shown at all over the past year. This could be the game the Heels needed to wake the hell up and start to play tournament-level ball again in Chapel Hill.

As I was watching the ending of this one unfold, I thought out loud to my friend, "Fuck."

I wanted to head into the Butler game 4-4 today; didn't happen. (I AM that sick and DO count the Heel record as one of my records. I need serious support from a psychologist.)

This was definitely a HUGE win for Carolina. They really needed this one, and I'm glad they came to play today. The Heels played well for extended periods of time today, but there were still those moments of being careless with the basketball, or just being stupid. The effort and intensity, however, was there for a full forty minutes, and that's a step in the right direction.

Jones didn't play well for UK, and the foul trouble for their big men did hurt them, but Carolina couldn't throw it in the ocean from beyond the arc, and they shot poorly from the free throw line in the middle part of the game. There were certainly ups and downs for both teams, but the potential is there for both squads to develop into very good basketball teams by the end of the season.

From a Carolina standpoint, Drew II and Strickland played very welll defensively, in my opinion. They didn't get much going offensively, but they did make some plays when they needed them. Barnes was outstanding in the first half, but when he couldn't get much going in the second half, he started forcing things again and it showed. He needs to relax and let the game come to him, just as he did in the first twenty minutes. Zeller and Henson were just awesome. Zeller had the best offensive game of his career today, and Henson (other than his horrific FT shooting) is really becoming a solid all-around player. The bench players gave Carolina some solid minutes and made some important contributions as well.

The Heels now will have a stretch of what should be easier games, in which they must take care of business. They'll get Texas in Greensboro also, but if they can start ACC play at 11-3, I'll be extremely happy, and optimistic about the rest of the season. This is just one win, though, so Carolina must continue to improve. It would be nice to make a perimeter shot or a free throw every once in a while, but as long as they keep winning, I'll take it.
