That week you took off went by rather quickly.
It is a good pickup for Boston. Baseball needs some type of salary cap to get competitive teams year in and year out.

Another big name player to a team with deep pockets bc the team withotu deep pockets knows they wont be able to pay up when the time comes....Im shocked.
Seems like 5 or 6 out of every 10 good free agents or soon to be free agents in baseball go to the Red Sox or Yankees lol. Im with Bundy, baseball needs a damn salary cap

How did that work out for Boston last year? Haha. Teams who are acting like the little sisters of the poor, have money and plenty of it. Go check the Pirates financial statements. Those teams care about turning a profit. I always love when NBA fanboys get up in arms about the parity of baseball. Obviously none of them actually look at the stats, because they'd see that over the past 10 years when the clamoring for a cap has been loudest, the mlb has had more parity than the NBA.

I just said id like to see a salary cap(like obviously many people have said), unbunch the panties. Or are you a Yankees or Sox fan is that why u got "up in arms about it".?

Still doesn't change the fact that MLB is played on a very uneven field. Small market teams are ML teams for the Sox and Yankees. Nah I'm a Reds fan.
The point remains the same. Baseball has recently had more parity than the NBA, but nobody wants to acknowledge that.
Why do rich people keep lining up in droves to buy the Pirates and Marlins of the world? It isn't so they can burn some extra cash that they have. They make a killing

Rays made the playoffs yes, had one of the best records in baseball yes...and are still gonna lose multiple players because the team doesnt have the deep pockets to keep them around.

The Rays will be fine. Their minor league system is the best in baseball. They already have somebody to replace Crawford (Jennings) and the other big hole (Pena) hit below .230
It is no different than the NBA, guys who get drafted by small market typically leave as soon as the clock hits midnight on their first deal. The good players migrate to big markets

Yes but in the NBA the teams at least have a chance of matching the offer made by the bigger market team

Theyre allowed to match, but when the Sox or the Yankees ect give someone an outrageous contract, the smaller market teams sometimes have no chance in hell at matching it because they cant afford it. In the NBA with a cap, at least if a bigger market team offers, the smaller market team has more of a chance to match bc the salary cant be THAT over the top

no but it keeps the small market teams from winning the division. they prouduce players from their farm system. in four or five years they are studs, the big market teams gobble them up. stupid. MLB is a joke.

The part about them winning divisions is completely false.
But the part about them bringing up big name players from the minors and developing them into stars onlyt o have them snatched away by big market teams is pretty accurate. And that cycle continues to repeat
