Michigan- obvious reasons

Clemson- how do you hire a coach named Dabo?

Texas Tech- got rid of the man who made them relevant

sidenote: Alabama dodged a bullet

I might add Minnesota to that list with Glen Mason. (I guess he's not really their last coach, but still...)

I agree with FatHobbit, Mason is around the top of the list.

I disagree with Leach (ethical issues, dude thinks he's a pirate, etc.) and Bowden (lived off of his father's reputation). Michigan I can agree with.

I agree but disagree with Leach. Dude did make TT relevant but man he was a loose cannon. If it wasn't for the fact that Craig James' kid was in the shed he'd still be there, but some other issue would have arisen.

Lloyd was run outta town. UM fans I'm certain wish he was still there as opposed to RR, that's criteria enough.

Yeah, I'm sure the guy they forced to retire would stay and be the assistant AD and the many other roles he has there. There may have been some displeasure among some fans, but he was coach as long as he wanted to be.

He was kinda losing his edge, Appy State and OSU aside, the recruiting was obviously becoming drudgery to him.

Boston College misses the guy who interviewed for the Jets coaching position, Jadzozinski or whatever his name is.

I dunno, I think they are pretty happy with Spaziani.

Thought it funny that of the 3 schools you listed 2 (Michigan, Clemson) didn't fire their last coach.

Texas Tech immediately comes to mind. As crazy as he was, Leach was a brilliant offensive mind (see what he did at his other stops before TT).

I don't think Michigan should regret Lloyd Carr leaving, the problem is who they hired.
My guess is ~ 75% of college coaches could have done as well at Michigan as Lloyd had been doing near the end. Unfortunately for Michigan the guy they hired was in the 25% bucket....

^^^ The problem with Rich Rod was he wanted to re-invent the wheel at Michigan. Although, I don't necessarily blame that on Rich Rod. The AD knew what he was getting a guy who ran the spread option when he hired up.

BC definitely regrets firing Jagodzinzki. He had the program progressing, he gets an interview, and then boom they fire him. I still laugh at BC's opinion of itself. Do they really think they are a destination job?

Bowden was fired, don't let the PR move fool you. We still pay him 1.5 million+ from the buyout. That being said, I don't regret the firing, I regret our awful ADs hiring.

Maybe I'm just drawing a complete blank. But aside but being a little weird with the pirate thing, what issues did Leach ever really have? I mean, I don't remember any real trouble with him or his players. He's always bragging about his high graduation rate. What do you mean by "loose cannon" other than the James thing?

Agreed. Boy, really made a statement there BC. That'll show....um...someone, I guess. Though he would've been gone soon anyway so I suppose they may still not be any better off.

He just shot his mouth off too much for me really. His arrogance in regard to everything he'd done, his approach to the game, and most importantly the outward disrespect toward everyone that question his methods. I suppose those could all be over looked, but as a representative of your institution I'd have a hard time warming up to the guy. Granted, I'm an Ohio State fan and probably view this aspect of the job with a little bias as Tressel has done nothing but be senatorial, I just think Leach is a little to close to the other end of the spectrum.

Add me to the group who don't understand the hate with Mike Leach. He's a little eccentric, but he's pretty harmless IMO. We didn't really hear anything negative about him until the whole thing happened with Craig James's kid. There was a lot of digging into his personal life/coaching style during that mess and I'm guessing that most coaches wouldn't come out smelling like a rose in a similar situation

Lloyd Carr had the greatest talent in the history of recorded sports and should have won 8 national titles because of it.

Henne alone was the single greatest college RB in all of recorded time. How could Lloyd not win with someone who threatened to score a TD everytime he touched the ball?

This is a very fair point.

For me, it was the non-controversy about his profanity that made the youtube rounds in his last year at TT. I call it a non-controversy because the profanity part didn't bother me. What it exposed is that Leach sounded like a homeless person randomly yelling stuff and appeared to have an IQ around 50 (even though he's much smarter than that). For people that saw the video feed of the Miami (OH) coach after the win last night, that is how you address your team. It was inspirational (admittedly it was a win) from a coach that has the support of his players. Leach looked like a fool with a disinterested team, and there haven't been many Red Raider former players that have stepped up and supported him. There is a reason why he is unemployed currently.

Yeah he had so many rushing yards. He was a threat for the endzone every time.
