Really? How does one mistake a deer or other animal for a human in camo? Are you that impatient that you just fire at anything moving in the brush? Get a clear shot you moron's. Know what you are shooting at.

Often wondered that myself. Wouldn't you get a clear view of your target before firing or like the OP said do they just shoot at any sound they hear in the brush?
Now I understand if you take a shot and miss then the bullet travels into another area populated by other hunters that I can understand.

Most people that hunt in groups know just where the others are/at least the general area. The dude and his cronies go hunting on his land every year, and they all pick their spots ahead of time. They also wear their orange.

Because idiots like to drive deer and shoot at anything that moves.

I've never liked the thought of driving deer. Granted, I'm no hunter myself, so I can't say from experience. But, it just doesn't seem like a very "hunter" thing to do.LJ;584425 wrote:Because idiots like to drive deer and shoot at anything that moves.
What's the general consensus of driving here in the OC?

I don't like the idea of it.
But I do like the results of it.

My uncle got shot a few years ago back by some idiot buddy of his that decided he didn't need to unload the gun before they got back into the truck. Luckily it was a clean shot right through his gut.

Yikes. My dad got shot in the head with a .410 because he stepped in front of someone as they were loading their gun and it went off.
I know a lot of people that have had a lot of success driving deer, but it always seemed strange to me to stand down range of someone who was shooting.

I have been on hunts by driving the deer well over 100 times and never heard of anyone getting shot! You could put some idiots in a 100 acre track and they would still somehow manage to hurt someon, stupid is, as stupid does!
Now, several years back on opening morning we set up along a ridgeline before dark and sit. After a couple of hours, we all meet up to set up a drive. 2 other guys come out of the same woods, they didnt have permission and ask if we had seen the other 2 in their group. We tell them no and that they need to leave. They start talking about popping off a couple of shots before sunrise, he called them "sound shots!" This right there explains how people get shot, he was shooting at noise! I told him, nope havent seen your buddy, have you looked where you took those SOUND SHOTS? Idiots

I live right across a boundary from one of these taints without honor. He has no compunction about poaching, shooting from moving vehicles, trespassing, or anything else along those lines. Basically, he's exactly the type of asshole who would shoot without verifying the target.
Ever notice there's none of these incidents during bow season?

i always suspect foul play in these instances. maybe it's the pessimist in me.
for example, this guy i know was shot by his 13 yr old his son while hunting. innocent enough until you know the kid's a prick.

Where I grew up we get a lot of city deer hunters(Akronites)...they fire at everything that moves. I heard stories of them killing everything from cattle to horses...hell, one of them tried to check in a goat.

On Sat while hunting a group of people showed up and dispersed who knows where they went. Thats when most accidents happen.

I've heard that story before as well, but in the version I heard they thought it was so funny they let him use his tag on it and told him it was so rare he should get it mounted. I hope it's true.
