Example:
Best Buy gives a doorbuster of Toshiba Laptop for $189.99 (Limit 1)
Model: C655D-S5089
The current best price you can get by not leaving your couch at Bestbuy.com was $299 (according to froogle.com) but now the price has been marked up to $349 to imply more savings. So, a savings of $110 is about the real saving.
For $110, you can eat your turkey dinner at 6pm, and arrive at Bestbuy around 7pm to get your ticket around 3am for a chance to get it.
It's about 6 hours of waiting for a chance. If you were to work for 6 hours somewhere normal, you'd make $50-100, pending on retail or service job.
With a job, you'd get breaks, indoor, etc, or you can wait in the rain at night.
After working, your saving dwindles down to $10-60 bucks...
So the question is, ...are door busters really worth the effort?

Not if all your buying is the laptop. If you are also buying a washer/dryer, iPod, digital camera, and TV, then yes, all together you're going to save several hundred dollars, way more than you would have made had you been working during that time.

It'd be impossible to get ALL of those items.

Why? You may not get the best deal on each of those items, but even the items that aren't necessarily "door busters" and still on sale.

It probably depends on what ur fiscal situation is. For me, 6hrs of work is worrth a gross of about $150, so it probably wouldn't be worth it to me, but for many others it may very well be.

$119-$89=20?????
Methinks your math is flawed.
But even for $30, still not worth it. Never worth it.

I waited for 45 minutes in line and got 5 blurays for $47 and they're all pretty good and new movies. I then got some clothes at JcPenneys that were $45 but normally woulda went for $75 and they're reall nice clothes too. I saved $45 on the movies and $30 on the clothes and $75 is pretty good in my book

Like I said on the other thread, I got the first 3 seasons of Mad Men on bluray for $30 and Assassins Creed Brotherhood for $40 for a total of $70 shipped from Amazon.
No reason to go out. I also bought some stuff from Macys.com and some clothes for my little one from Oldnavy.com that were both cheap as hell as well.

I got the gadget the wife wanted for $55. Retail is $200. I showed up to the store 15 minutes before they opened, walked up 5 min before, got my item and was out the door in 10 minutes. I then went to another store that opened an hour later and got four of the accessories for $16.99. Regular retail is $45-$55. I also picked up 6 books that noormally go for $10 each @ 3 for $10. If my math is right I saved $296 in about 3 hours for being @ 2 stores for doorbusters. This is the first time I have done the black friday thing. I think if you stay away from Best Buy and Wall Mart, you can be successful without all the hassle.
