"tornado warning for: southern champaign county in west central Ohio, northern clark county in west central Ohio, eastern miami county in west central Ohio,
Until 230 am est.
At 202 am est, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This dangerous storm was located near haven view, moving east at 45 mph."

If the storm is just capable of producing shouldn't it just be a "tornado watch" instead of a warning?

At this point I'm hoping a real tornado comes along for once.

This sucks Ive been sitting outside watching the skies for the last 45 minutes. I hate this but would rather let my family sleep and me keep an eye out for them.

They blow those damn sirens off at the slightes hint of some wind.

The idiots in charge will be totally shocked when 50 people get killed because of the maly false alarms.

Dumb thread. Tornado sirens save lives. In doing so, sometimes they wake people up at inconvenient times.

This I agree with.

This I don't.

Sirens are sounded when there is a warning. The NWS issues the warnings.

Not necessarily the case. Tornado Sirens are sounded by the County. I live in Butler County who only sound the siren for a Tornado Warning. Hamilton County, less that a mile away, sounds theirs anytime there is a Tornado Watch with a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

I've never heard of any county doing that. If they do, that is a terrible policy.

Also, not all counties control the sirens. The county I live in does not. Each town with sirens controls their own. The county north of me does control all sirens, and they get some complaints when a "radar indicated" tornado is spotted to the very north of the county, and the sirens go off in the south 40 miles away.
