Premiered tonight on History Channel, it's laughable compared to it's current BBC counterpart. Way to serious and the hosts seem very uptight.

I love the BBC original version, but the US one looks like it sucks. I'll try and watch it later tonight, but I don't think you can replace the hosts. The 3 on the BBC are great!
Does the US version have a Stig?

arrrgh...I heard they were trying to put together a US version...
the BBC show is definitive and unique. How can one improve upon it?
I'll have to try to catch the History Channel version later....
[Is it just me...or is US TV continuously looking to GB for its inspiration??
(Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, America's Got Talent, etc.)]
meanwhile US television exports are limited to the 'Law and Order' variety.
sad.

Law and order is the first and I believe only major primetime US show to be picked up by the UK.
The UK, however, has given the US:
Dancing with the stars
Kitchen Nightmares
Coupling (UK version-the funniest show that has ever been on TV. US version-SUCKED)
The Office
Top Gear
Antiques Roadshow
American Idol
America's Got Talent
Whose Line is it Anyway
Master Chef
Junkyard Wars
Queer as Folk
Teachers (which sucked ass anyway)
Supernanny
Weakest Link
Undercover Boss
And those are just the one's I can name off the top of my head.

I guess so far this show has actually surpassed my expectations. They are holding very true to the British version. They have a Stig who does lap times, they have the exact same logo, studio set up, interview questions, they do the star in a reasonably priced car (although they are calling it something different), and they even use the same font for the words on the lap time board and they even have an engine as a coffee table. Almost too copied.
It is better than I thought, but I won't be tuning in. The British version seems much funnier and why mess with an original.
My only complaint is that why is the reasonably priced car a Suzuki 4 or whatever? I have never been one to demand to buy American, indeed a BMW made in South Carolina and a Hyundai made in Alabama are more American than the Chevy made in Ontario, but you would think for the us version of the show, they would have a Ford Focus or a Chevy Impala or something.

I watched it last night. All I can say is. It sucked and was unwatchable.

Ahrgh....
finally caught it tonite for the first time....
my only thought.......... is that everyone associated with this show should be ashamed of themselves for having not so much as one original thought when they tried to "adapt" what is a very original and groundbreaking show for all of us derivitive Americans....they took what was a hugely funny and original show and made a 'Saturday Night Live'-type parody of it.
Absolutely cringingly ridiculous.
Why would anyone watch this drivel when they could see the original on BBCAmerica.
By the way, the hosts are the hugest douches i have seen in awhile.
