... I was told that I would no longer have the job I'd held for a couple years ... the job I would have been happy working for the rest of my life.

A year later, I'm still looking, but have been able to drum up a pretty good income in my spare time (albeit not so steady at times), and my former employers are now being sued by the Ohio Attorney General for practices that they implemented after I left.

Life isn't so bad. :D

Is that the company that sent you to Boston with a highly successful young millionaire boss?

They locked themselves into a contract that ended up costing them a lot of money, and they didn't have the liquid assets to pay it off.

Yeah, but that means little. The BBB is a neutered dog.

Maybe that's where the problem lies. The FTC frowns on "guaranteeing" results. No wonder they are/were getting sued.

Funny thing is, I used to talk to Cordray all the time when I worked there. He and the company were in good standing at the time.

It's just a book about teaching the very basics of understanding football (well enough to know what you're watching on the TV screen).

I bought it for my wife. :D

Haha -- You bought it for your wife? Aren't you selling it though? Seems like you would get it for free. Are you working for a company to sell it or is it your own?

Each link on it makes the book come up to a different price. The main price is $10, on the blog link its $17 and the rule link is $14. But, you have to order within the first 4 weeks of the season to get that rate, so I assume its the standard price.

It's not mine. I didn't make it, nor am I at all employed. I bought it at $10.

It's an affiliate link. That means if anyone does happen to buy it through my link, I get a percentage from the owner.

Welcome to the world of affiliate marketing. :D Just like Justin gets paid for the ads atop the site.

The link is unique to me. It TAKES you to: http://www.football-rulebook.com/?hop=otrap1

The site itself is http://www.football-rulebook.com/

The ?hop=otrap1 is a variable that means my affiliate account at Clickbank (otrap1) is the one connected, so if anyone buys, my account gets credit.

Clickbank allows a cloaking to hide affiliate and vendor names, which is why the link above looks like "http://<insert-random-characters>.hop.clickbank.net." The random characters are where the affiliate and vendor ID would normally be.

It is cookie-based, so if someone clicks my link, a cookie tracks if they buy. If they do, $$ for me.

Bingo. :D

Also, unless you clear your cookies or click on someone ELSE'S affiliate link, if you EVER go back to that site directly to the site URL, I'll still get credit for up to 60 days. :D

It's a fascinating industry, affiliate marketing is.

I didn't lie. I actually did buy it. I don't get it for free just because I'm promoting it.

I DID, however, buy it through my own link, which means I got commission for buying it. :D

But I actually did buy it.
