Been flirting with the idea of starting a website for a couple weeks now and was just seeing if any other huddles had any previous knowledge or advice to start a website...

Thoughts?

No advice. I just hope it is better at hooking up teachers and students...this one is not doing well.

Namecheap is probably the best domain registrar out there.

In order to give any advice we'll need to know a general idea of what the website is going to be about, even if you don't want to give specifics. I.e. you can just say e-commerce if you're wanting to build an online store.

I'd assume OP is looking for help from someone who has started a successful site.

QFT

And unless you're looking for tons of traffic, I like Lacehost as a hosting solution. Cheap, cPanel based hosting (like $1.99 a month).

I can attest to this.

If you're looking for monetizing websites, I am happy to offer input.

Mainly, I would want it to be an informational website, with the ability to upload pictures, videos, etc. Does that help?

I've heard that a key to success is to charge all subscribers a paltry $12.

You'll want to use a content management system, i.e. drupal.

How about "BetterOhioChatter.com" That may, however, lead to a certified letter.

I can't win with this guy.

When it was called FreeHuddle he wanted a slice of the pie and now I'm an idiot because he can't check the site at work. SMH.
