So I want to get a gaming laptop before deployment because I'm a gamer and I want to be able to play while we are out. I have a 360 already and can bring it with me it's just not ideal to have to setup all the time and take down, storing, etc. So what's a good gamer laptop? Gateway? I know Alienware is crazy expensive. What other brands make them?

I don't necessarily go by the brand...I go by the guts of the machine....I thought this is a pretty decent laptop for the price...it has a mid level video card in it and a good amd processor...

The only problem I have with it is that it has a little bit of a slow HD.

yeah, I mean it won't play Crysis very well, but it looks like it would play many of the newer games at medium to high settings. If you want a machine that is going to play Crysis at ultra settings...you are going to pay over 2 grand.

Is this video card good? ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850. I see it in a lot of laptops. I mean I want to be able to play games with no problem. I don't play crysis. I stick to the COD, Fallout, types of games.

yeah, that one will run you some more money though....If you don't mind spending over a grand then this computer is pretty legit..

I am sure there will be some good deals on black friday as well. Newegg is great site to get exactly what you are looking for.

Yeah I was just looking at that MSI one. It seems ASUS is big on gaming laptops too and gets pretty good reviews. I've looked at the BF ads, don't see much yet.

Yeah, the name matters less than the innards. High-quality processor. Good RAM. Good video card. Decent HD a plus.

Alienware.....best in the biz...but you will pay for it. As already stated...you could custom order something with nice specs for cheaper.

Oh there will be a ton of xboxs and ps3's on the ship during deployment, people will bring them for sure. I just don't think I want to bring mine. Plus we used to have a ton of ps3's, 360's and wii's until the damn shipyard workers stole them all from the ship.

Alienware is overpriced crap. You're paying for the name.

Alienware is OK, but if you want a gaming machine you should just get a desktop.
