Anyone know of a bug going around? Tuesday/Wednesday, my 8 month old had it coming out of both ends. She puked all Tuesday night, then crapped herself something fierce (all over the place) on Wednesday. She looked awful Tuesday, but was in great spirits all day Wednesday, even though she pooped all the way up to her neck.

Fastforward...

I threw up about 3-4 times last night, from 9:30-2:30. Was feeling somewhat OK this morning, so I jumped in the shower, ready to go to work. Started feeling dizzy, blacked out, and the next thing I know, I'm on the shower floor. Needless to say, I stayed home today and slept until 1:15.

Anyone else hear of this crap going around? Is blacking out something I should be worried about? I don't think I've ever blacked out sober.

a black out should be followed by a trip to the Dr.

hope all ends well.

I would definitely say that blacking out due to illness would be something to be worried about. That's never happened to me and, over my life, I've caught some reasonably serious illnesses.

The zombification is probably setting in. All your pain will gradually vanish, just leaving an insatiable desire for human brains.

Our 14 month old has a high fever yesterday and a red throat. Took her to the doctor and they did the quick strep test and it came back negative. Said to give her tylenol. Fever was gone by 6pm. We missed our TSO concert because of it.

We had someone call in today at work that was puking his brains out, so I think there is something going around.

Luckily I was out of town when he called off.

My 2 year old got it on Tuesday...vomiting for a while. Took her to the doc's on Wednesday and my 6 year old puked while my wife and 2 year old were there. This morning from around 4 to 9, my Mrs. was yacking like crazy. She's been in bed all day. I left work early just to vomit while on the road. NO COOL!!!

I'll be glad when we're healthy.

My girlfriend had it last Monday and it spread through her family a bit (Dad, sister, nieces). Then on Tuesday, I got it pretty good (passed out three times and threw up once) and I'm still getting over it. Then this morning, my Mom gets it pretty bad, so it's sweeping through here too.

I had it last weekend. Both ends as well. Luckily it that part was over in about 12 hours. I only threw up once, but made it worth it.

The people that had this, did you feel it coming on days in advance or did it just hit you suddenly? I've been feeling terrible the past few days

Nope... no sickness here. Daughter was feeling ill a couple days ago, but that was monthly girl problems not the flu or whatever. (I know...TMI)

Some of you with the 'my daughter got it then my wife got it then i got it then my son got it then my other daughter got it then i got it again' story need to do better with germ control. I know it's easier said then done, but when someone is sick with something contagious, try to keep them semi-isolated. Everyone wash their hands, disinfect as best as you can, etc.
As for the OP - like ricola said, the GI loss probably causing serious loss of electrolytes. You're lucky to wake up and not be more hurt. A lot of people could faint and hit their head and what not. Just take it easy and replace the fluids - juice and gatorade especially, not just water. Also take it easy when you're getting up from the couch or bed. Standing up too quickly causes blood pressure to drop and when you're pressure is probably already low from the dehydration, it'll be possible to pass out again.
If you go to the doctor/ER they're just going to draw blood, confirm you're dry, and give you IV fluid to rehydrate you. Not worth all the money. However, after a day or two of rest and recovery, if you're still dizzy and having GI problems, then I'd check out further help.

Dude, my wife is anti-germ Nazi. But with little ones it's hard! The wife got it Sunday night, more than 2 weeks after me!

Ours hit without warning. When I got it, I ate pizza for supper, went to the high school football and game and felt normal. By the 4th quarter, I knew something was up. I ended up leaving with 3 minutes left and barely made it home to the toilet.
