Damn, I know Rolen is solid and has been great in the past, but I'm not sure he played a better 3rd base than Ryan Zimmerman did this year. Good for the Reds though, they had a good year and deserve some recognition.

I have lost all respect for the Gold Glove awards...nothing to do with the Reds, but the fact that Jeter got one with a poor fielding percentage is a joke. I remember that Ripkin jr used to get them given to him during the twilight of his career....it just seems like a joke of an award anymore.

It does seem to be a popularity contest at times.

I agree with Mantooth.

Same with NBA all-defense awards.

let's see...who did the Tribe get for Gold glover Franklin Gutierrez?....ooooh....not such a good trade, Mark. Maybe it was because we needed a second baseman ever since we let Phillips go 'cause you and Wedge didn't like him. Is that 2 Gold Gloves for BP now?

Didn't Jeter have a very good fielding %?

I'm not saying he should've won it....but saying he had a poor fielding % is beyond ignorant......maybe hit on his range

Jeter only had 6 errors on the entire season

He only had 6 errors on the season because he has the range of Babe Ruth's bust in Monument Park.

My bad...i guess my point is that his best days are behind him and he is no longer the best ss in the game...prob not even top ten.

These awards are a joke because once you get one....you get it every year, no matter what

Jeter ranked 20th out of 21 short stops with enough games played in range factor this year. He was also 200 total chances short of where the top 3 short stops were in the same number of games started.

6 errors in 553 chances....I suppose you have to hit on his range

No overwhelming AL GG SS choice.

This was similar to the all star vote when players/coaches left Votto out because he was the young guy and they voted in the older Reds. Now Bruce gets snubbed because guys didn't want to vote for too many Reds.

Doesn't matter to me, either way Cincy looks good.

Ding, ding ,ding...we have a winner!!!! Can't make an error when you can't get to the ball. Derek is a good player...just getting old.

Just to put Derek's 3.78 range factor into perspective...Jhonny Peralta's RF at SS for the Kittys was 4.38...the lowest of his career. when he was playing SS for the Tribe, it was never lower than 4.50. Peralta has never been considered by most Tribe fans to be be nothing more than an adequate SS or worse. That has NEVER been my take on JP....but I post it only as a reference point to the DEFENSIVE year that Jeter had. Giving Jeter a Gold Glove this year is a little like giving Al-Qaida the Nobel peace prize.

What did the numbers for Elvis Andrus look like. Seems like he was being touted for a GG throughout the season.

But he was a young guy that made some easy errors because of youth I think.

Andrus committed 16 errors and had a range factor of 4.48 (8th in AL). He will win a few Gold Gloves as he continues to improve.

That's another issue with Jeter winning a GG this year. Wasn't this one of his least productive seasons offensively too?

...yes but an easy answer to voters who don't know crap about who deserves and who does not

I'm busy, busy, busy...oh gotta make my GG picks.....AL SS...uh Jeter
