Maybe we can talk some football without all of the trash......
Thursday December 3rd
#16 Oregon State at #8 Oregon....a Rose Bowl berth hangs in the balance
Friday December 4th
Ohio vs. Central Michigan....MAC title game
Saturday December 5th
#5 Cincinnati at #9 Pitt.....the Big East title and a BCS Bowl berth is on the line. Maybe even a BCS Championship game berth for Cincy.
#1 Florida vs. #2 Alabama.....the big one. Not much needs to be said.
#3 Texas vs. Nebraska in the Big 12 title game
#7 Georgia Tech vs. #18 Clemson in the ACC title game
One of the biggest college football weekends in recent memory. It should be noted that these are last week's rankings.

Yeah great games.
In order, I am looking forward to the most:
1) OU vs Central Mich...gotta rep my school.
2) Alabama vs Florida...first 1 vs 2 game outside the title game since OSU vs Mich in 2006, and that was a classic.
3) Cincy vs Pitt...offense, offense, offense.

I know this will never happen, but happens if Texas somehow loses to Nebraska? Who gets left out of the BCS?

But wouldn't they deserve to go over Iowa/Penn St?Cleveland Buck wrote:Boise Statewes_mantooth wrote: I know this will never happen, but happens if Texas somehow loses to Nebraska? Who gets left out of the BCS?
I hate the BCS set up, so I would love for it to be another big mess.

I don't know that they would deserve it, but it doesn't matter. They don't choose bowl participants based on who deserves it.wes_mantooth wrote:But wouldn't they deserve to go over Iowa/Penn St?Cleveland Buck wrote:Boise Statewes_mantooth wrote: I know this will never happen, but happens if Texas somehow loses to Nebraska? All I know is, it would be a terrible thing if PSU goes to a BCS game...

If Iowa/Penn State goes to a BCS game, they should be paired up with the ACC champion in the "battle of who gives a damn" and aired at roughly the same time as that scintillating battle between the third-best MAC team and the Sun Belt runner-up.

I agree but Penn State would probably beat Boise State.wes_mantooth wrote:Boise State

That being said I agree....this is looking like a great weekend of college football coming up. I want my Bobcats to beat Central Michigan, want Texas to beat Nebraska because I hate the Cornhuskers for personal reasons, and hope Alabama beats Florida.

Clemson/Georgia Tech is an absolute bore fest. Both teams lose to average SEC teams. The game is meaningless. It's a shame either will get a BCS birth.

After this weekends games this can't be argued. Hadn't really seen either this year and watched both...unimpressedAzubuike24 wrote: Clemson/Georgia Tech is an absolute bore fest. Both teams lose to average SEC teams. The game is meaningless. It's a shame either will get a BCS birth.

The ACC is a joke this year. Early on, they were dropping games to FCS schools. Now the cream of the crop looks like cream of the crap. After the BCS bowl bids are all handed out, there will be 10-15 teams on the outside looking in who all are more deserving than the ACC champion.Azubuike24 wrote: Clemson/Georgia Tech is an absolute bore fest. It's amazing how far this league has fallen. Heck, a few years back, it looked like the Big East was in shambles because so many of their top teams defected to the ACC. Now....the Big East seems to be getting better and better, while the ACC is hitting rock bottom.

It will be an interesting weekend of games to be sure. Looking forward to waking up for gameday at 10 and not leaving my couch for about 13 or 14 hours

Really looking forward to this week's games. As an Ohio State fan, I'll certainly be watching Oregon/Oregon State closely on Thursday. It's always fun to watch the Civil War, but this edition of the rivalry has major implications.
The SEC title game should be a battle. I would expect both teams to play well and the Tebow/Ingram side story for the Heisman race adds even more intrigue. #1 vs. #2 in a conference championship game isn't something that happens very often.
Texas/Nebraska could be a decent game and McCoy will be looking to lock up the Heisman. I like watching Texas anytime I can, so I'll definitely be taking a look at that one.
Cincy/Pitt and GT/Clemson might be interesting as well, but I'll be more focused on the games I mentioned above.

I'm out here in the Pacific NW and it's hard to put into words how big this game is in Oregon. It might be the biggest football game ever played in Oregon. I'll be back in Ohio for December and I swear if I can find someone who wants to go I may drive over to Pitt for the UC-Pitt game and scalp tickets. I like UC to win this game by two TDs. I'm just not that impressed with Pitt, especially in big games under Wannstedt.
I don't know what to do for the Florida-Alabama game. I just can't stand lying Nick Saban and arrogant, whiny Urban Meyer. I guess I like Saban less, so I'll root for Florida.

For me the Oregon-Oregon St. game is the biggest since it determines who plays the Buckeyes. I am pulling for Oregon since I think they are the best the Pac Ten has to offer and I want the Bucks to beat the best.
Florida-Bama is the next closest to being big for me. I think Florida wins because they have been playing well lately. All year I thought Bama was going to win, but I think they don't have enough to beat the Tebow led Florida team.

The Clemson-GT game will be a rematch of an exciting 30-27 win from the second week of the season. If you don't think either deserves a BCS bowl, then you have been watching too much ESPN. The ACC is weak, but still has some OOC wins over teams high in their conference.
Wake Forest beat Stanford
NC State beat Pitt
VT beat Nebraska (playing for big 12 title)
It is a down year yes, but not as bad as the pundits would have you believe.

I don't think it has been that down of a year for the ACC. It is on par with the last couple of years. But there is so much parity that it is hard for one team or program to emerge as the hegemonic force which towers over the rest of the conference. The closest thing to that would be Virginia Tech but they always have a couple of conference losses when they win the title and they haven't really separated from the other 10 teams. If you ranked all 12 teams on a 1-10 scale all of them but Maryland would fall between 5 and 8.
