We don't eat at McD's, except on one occasion when my wife flies somewhere, and yes she orders the Happy Meal (at age 36) and collects the toys. Some of the ones she has from the 80's are pretty valuable.
Guess when we go to SF in a few weeks we won't be going to Mickey D's....or we could cancel the trip (it is business related for her) and go to LA which is another option from her company.
I'm thinking we're going to LA.

This is part of why the vote went the way it did yesterday even though Cali stayed democratic.

Something about the way this was phrased made me lol.
I'm just picturing people advancing on Mickey D's like a zombie horde, moaning..."Mc Ribbbbb.....Mc Ribbbbb..."Ironically, the vote was held the same day that McDonald's reintroduced its McRib sandwich nationwide, a pressed pork patty that gets half its calories from fat and has a cult-like legion of fans.

Yeah. After typing the "Mc Ribbbbb"s, I realized I was drooling a bit.
Homer: Maybe I should hook up with you guys. After all, how long do any of us have to live?
Ribhead: Well, if you like the ribwich, not very. [holds up ribwich box with Krusty saying "WILL CAUSE EARLY DEATH"]
Homer: D'oh!

Make healthy food just as cheap as this food. Problem solved! Killing what America is all about.

ETB you are correct, healthy alternatives are too expensive for most people. It is way cheaper, not just fast food, junk at the grocery store than healthy food!!

I disagree about at the grocery store.
There are healthy options of pretty much everything that don't cost much/any more than the non healthy alternatives.
Things like whole grain bread and pasta are pretty much the same price as the enriched crap anymore and you're starting to be able to find things without HFCS in them (ketchup).
But eating out healthy is still difficult to do on a budget.

Government needs to fucking die, or better yet, the citizens of America need to actually do something about it.
For 'big brother' to tell a company that they can't offer a toy in their KIDS MEAL is BEYOND RIDICULOUS.
Our government just keeps getting bigger and bigger and nobody does anything about it... But then again, what can we really do about it? Voting hasn't worked since god only knows.

In my life I have been a parent, a (be it small) business owner, and a former child who cherished going to McDonalds. Because of these experiences, I, like many have already stated, do not support the government intrusion into our personal lives where it can dictate to parents what types of food businesses can sell us to feed our children.
I am also a constitutionalist, which basically means that if something is not in the US Constitution, it beckons back to being the responsibility of the state and local governments to make the decision.
Because this absurd law is being made by a local government, I really don't have a problem with it. I have options to deal with it, namely, not putting myself in the situation where it affects me and my family (not going to San Francisco) as well as advocating to leaders in my own community to never enact this kind of law.
It's when F'd-up laws like this get picked up and made national through the Federal government that I get pissed.

Sad... Govt wants to participate in our market economy too, so they will always (because of greed) want more.

Does anyone feel that this measure, like the whole Doom thing, will have no effect?

Pretty soon you'll only be able to eat wheat germ and purified water from Austria in San Francisco.
