I put this here since it really has nothing to do with basketball.

From what i know of this story, physiologically, she is still a woman, so makes completely sense that she would still be on the woman's team. Don't think she is going through any sort of hormone treatment, so seems only logical that she would continue to play on the woman's team.

Not sure why we need to "have it," nothing outrageous about it, given that she is still, physically, a woman.

Pretty cool that she/he is being supported fully by the administration/team.

If "it" wants to be identified as a man, then what is "it" doing playing woman's basketball where everyone else is a woman?!

I have no problem with "him" playing women's collegiate basketball. "He" is "still" a girl, and therefore is physically enhanced as such.

I have no problem with "Kyle" (or anyone else for that matter) "transgendering." Do i agree with it? Hell no; but at the end of the day, it's their decision - it's their body, their life, their whatever. Do what you want - just don't bring it into others arenas and expect that everything is going to be honkeydori. It doesn't work that way.

"She" can live "her" life as a "he." But the minute "she" starts bringing that into the public domain where there are lines, such as sports, between men vs men sports and women vs women sports, "her" crap doesn't fly anymore. "She's" making the choice, and by making that choice, "she" is forfeiting some of her "rights."

I don't get the big deal either. She isn't a transsexual, she's not pumping in testosterone.

I suppose anyone can say that their name is Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho and that they are neither male nore female or even human as they didn't choose that when they were born but rather chooses to be the spawn of a gelfling and the Great Lord Ctuhulu. But if they physically qualify to play women's basketball, it shouldn't be news.

its cool that she/he has support from her campus community and all. I don't really see what the big deal is. She's basically just announced that she's gonna dress/act like a dude but not have all the shit done yet

You know what I hate ? Intolerance and narrow minds. Politics in this country make me sick . I dont hate anybody because of what they are or color or religion . I really think he/she/the University/Media is putting her in a REALLY BAD situation. There will be people out there doing/saying things to her all season. I remember our girl's team in high school playing against a team that had a big athletic girl. Whenever this girl took the court, the opposing team's student section would yell things "She's a Man" "Check her pants".... That's high school students going against a high school girl that just happened to be big and athletic.

I agree this shouldn't be news, mainly because of the negative publicity that will ensue during the season; I can almost guarantee it.
